I started having doubts about him when Twin Galaxies reached a settlement with Billy Mitchell. Karl's video said Billy lost when it was more like a tie and Karl too conveniently forgot Twin Galaxies' lawyer was engaging in some sort of malpractice giving Billy's team some bargaining power which helped them push for a settlement.

As I said before, I used to think of him as the fucking paladin taking on the narcissist. I was wrong. I regret donating to his GoFundMe.

None of this makes Billy any less of a complete prick.

Yeah I don't think he's pure evil or anything, but he comes off as a bit annoying at times and has a habit of milking situations unless they become dead horses (especially the Billy Mitchell stuff). He gets credit in my book for helping expose The Completionist's charity fraud though.

Because he’s a piece of shit. He’s the typical guy with no talent who became rich by taking other people’s projects and “commenting” on them, while getting sponsored by shady companies at the same time using predatory tactics to attract the weaker side of the population, claiming that “a man has to eat” (he earns tens of thousands per month, guy’s definitely not starving). He’s yet another YouTuber grifting his way to the top by ragebait, taking a random guy, whose worst crime was being a douchebag, and act like he’s a fucking murderer, to get that sweet engagement and ad revenue, conveniently forgetting that, before Apollo Legend died, his last controversy wasn’t with Billy Mitchell, but with DarkViperAU, another shitty YouTuber whom Apollo Legend called out because he didn’t pay his editor and DarkViperAU essentially turned his fan base as personal army against him, while other YouTuber grifters all ganged up on Apollo Legend to get that sweet sweet ad revenue by acting like an even shittier version of TMZ.

By the way, speaking of “fake speed runners”, remember the South American guy he made fun of for several videos? Karl was sooooo dedicated to make fun of him, all and all except for one particular detail: he made a follow-up video some time later, explaining why he made that obviously fake speedrun and apologised. Karl never mentioned it, but why would he? He’s after the $$$ no matter how many lives he tries to ruin over petty things. The people following him are no better than the brain dead kids following garbage like Drama Alert or TMZ or whatever else people watch nowadays like monkeys at the zoo. It’s funny how you claim that “half this thread is too immature” when you follow a millionaire that became rich by exploiting others.

He’s not a “no talent guy who becomes rich off of other people’s hard work.” He was a well established speed runner for several years before he started making videos and he even has a few world records under his belt. He makes videos about speedrunning because it’s his life long passion, and in most videos where he talks about a new game, he shows himself trying it out and tries to bring positive attention to them. And a lot of his most popular videos are about new achievements and developments in popular games and have nothing to do with cheating.

I agree that he’s a bit of a sensationalist, but I think that comes more from how passionate he is about the topics he discusses. I wish he would tone back on calling cheaters “scum bags” and I wish that he would take a more nuanced stance in more of his videos, but it’s also completely ridiculous to act like he sensationalizes everything for views and has no morals.

Apollo Legend wasn’t a saint, but didn’t deserve any of that. And DarkViperAU essentially used his fanbase as a personal army that caused the suicide of an individual and he 100% got away with it. Now Karl is trying to pinpoint the whole thing to Billy Mitchell whom, again, the worst thing he did was being a jerk, but never used his fanbase to push someone into suicide or anything as nefarious as that.

If you accuse me of something then I’m going to defend myself, but I’m not going to use my fans to attack you until you can’t take this anymore. Guy should’ve been blasted off both YT and Twitch, but money talks I guess.

Apollo Legend killed himself because he was in constant pain due to a chronic illness. Stop with this revisionist history bullshit. Rightfully criticizing someone is not the same thing as weaponizing your audience to drive them to suicide.
