@RunningSnakes the SD folder private is new compared to V7 pack. What is it for? Which emulator does it need?

RetroArch-Hexaeco. If using one of the Hexaeco cores that require bios, they should be placed in those sub folders system folder.

Example...

Atari Lynx Hexaeco bios path...
private/LYNX-/system/lynxboot.img

Sega Mega CD bios path...
private/MDMOD/system/bios_CD_J.bin

i dont remember seeing this being documented in past revisions, is this new? Is there a list of BIOSes that need to get placed?
TBH a centralized list of BIOSs the user needs to supply and where to put them would be a tremendous boon to the useability of this pack. It's no small pain to dig through allllll the directories looking for readme files. It's easier when the readmes are in the appropriate plugins folder, but sometimes they're just elsewhere i think.

This is what I meant by the pack becoming bloated. Some emulators require bios/games to be in a specific folders as you know.

The Hexaeco cores/emulators included in the pack are modified by myself and to be honest, I don't know if the private folder is mandatory for the bios to be present, they may work with the original RetroArch folder. I am testing many things and didn't want to overlook this.

If anyone could test any Hexaeco emulator which requires bios, without them being present in the private folder, that would be great if you could post your results. If it works properly I'll remove the private folder from the next Update pack I plan on releasing within the next 3-6 hours.

The pack is still a W-I-P and I'm trying to organize things to keep everything as clean and simple as possible and not leaving out crucial things.

I just stuck all the bios files that Hexaeco requires in the same folder usb:wiiflow/plugins/RA-HEXAECO/system/

Basically a mirrored copy of the bios files that I have in /retroarch/system

@gZa

Thanks for the response. PCE CD and Mega CD are working correctly without the private folder?

I'm running/testing alot of Hexaeco/Other outside of WFL. To make a long story short I have multiple folders-files-bios "you name it" on my SD. Very hard to keep track of what I got sidetracked with and did or did not clean to test reliably 100%. So I appreciate any testing help or feedback i can get.

When I test PCE CD or Mega CD my SD card contains at least 3 separate sets of BIOS for pretty much every system WFL emulates, which is about everything. Like I said a jumbled circus mess.

Thanks again.

I can verify that i did this as well and i believe it was successful... though i think i mirrored what already in wiiflow/plugins/RA-HEXAECO/system into /retroarch/system? ??? I'm p sure that's what i did? So i'm confused about this discrepancy now suddenly lol.

So i'm looking at the change you made to the Atari 5200 WiiXL plugin and it looks like you *removed* "(WiiXL)" from the plugin name, which seems to b a contrast to every other change made in V8? I'm finally going through and committing V8 changes that are useful to my setup.

Oh yeah, and what was the reasoning behind removing the PCE Fast emulator from PCE and TG16? Is it outdated? I had been using it just fine heretofor but i haven't done extensive testing either. If it's truly not up to snuff, which of the remaining plugins do you recommend as ideal? I just tested it in comparison to the remaining plugins, and, I get it now, i think it seemed slowr to respond than mednafen?

Oh and has anyone made custom boxart for King of Fighters Flames of Courage?

If you look a bit closer, all stand-alone emulators that do not have an alternative emulator are that way since it is the only emulator available. If I have no experience with a certain emulator that Tetsuo included, I keep as is. If a RetroArch emulator is the only 1 available for any console/computer it is noted.

When you launch Rick Dangerous it is looking for data.zip which needs to be located in ROMS/XRick folder.

As for KOF. All you need is the optional KOF download available, but it must be placed on your SD.

The PCE Fast emulator is still there, just not default anymore. The PCE SGFX core is superior in every way IMO. Yes it has been updated (both cores) in the latest RA 1.10.1 release with huge improvements. If you are playing PCE CD games, RA SGFX & RA Fast are far and away 1-2. PCE Fast cannot play SGFX games so use WiiMednafen as an alternative behind RA SGFX.

I'll be releasing a complete 8.1 tomorrow with many changes. Hold tight!

Many more edits are made including many new Rom and Cover paths.

Knowing V8 has not been out for a week, I thought it was necessary for a complete re-upload so there is no copy/paste update. And I know it's a pain in the rear end to dl and start over but I'm hoping this next release will be final for at least 5-6 months.

in my plugins/n64 folder there are 4 versions of wii64 rice-gl, two dated 22/03 (i think these are beta4 gl&rice) and another two dated 19/03 (i think these are an old beta of gl&rice, ini files don't point to them).
i don't know if this is already fixed.
thanks, spinoman.

RetroArch-Hexaeco. If using one of the Hexaeco cores that require bios, they should be placed in those sub folders system folder.

Example...

Atari Lynx Hexaeco bios path...
private/LYNX-/system/lynxboot.img

Sega Mega CD bios path...
private/MDMOD/system/bios_CD_J.bin
I may be wrong, but is sd:/private the folder Nintendo uses for swapping channels and VC software to SD card when the Wii's NAND is full?
