Unfortunately, E3 has trained me to be jaded and cynical of such award shows. And how they handled themselves last year was enough to ensure i wouldn't trust anything to be impartial about this event.

Still fail to see how Wukong won anything, outside of China. It's a game that stayed under the radar, but because it's yet another retelling of journey to the west or romance of the three kingdoms or some crap, suddenly half a billion people in china got rtx 4090 money to play the thing.
:wtf: Help me, make it, make sense.

Being jaded and cynical explains why you feel the way you do. The game wasn't "under the radar" outside of China whatsoever.

Astrobot is great.

Okami 2 :D, I hope at some point we get a proper remaster of the first game and free it from the chains of 30fps.

I was never into Okami, but it should be the best announcement here.
New Onimusha is great.
Borderlands, story-wise, died after 2 (and even that was already a bit too much for me), so meh.
Nothing indicates that Witcher 4 is woke from that trailer (A FMC by itself is not "woke", people, get your facts straight).

Astrobot totally deserved that W.

I checked out that Metaphor game thinking it was a great JRPG that I somehow missed, then I see it's just disguised Persona (really dislike that franchise and SMT), complete with that absolutely terrible UI they love to use. Sigh...
When The Witcher 4 trailer showed Ciri as the MC, everyone on chat started screaming "Woke! Woke! Woke! Woke! Woke!" At first I didn't understand, but then, later, they showed a 3D animation (I don't remember what it was for) and again, the chat spammed "Woke! Woke! Woke! Woke! Woke!" Then Borderland 4 trailer "Woke 4! Woke 4! Woke 4! Woke 4!"
I'm an anti-woke myself and I clearly didn't see any woke shits here.
I admit, I never played Borderland games, so I cannot say for sure if they changed the game for worst just to include minorities or something like that, but in the case of The Witcher 4, putting a female lead character, a character who was already in the lore since the first game, is NOT something woke. A change of lead character is something we can see in a lot of stories.

I feel like there's a good majority of people on this site who don't even like video games anymore and just don't realize it. The amount of disappointment and "meh"s i see from new announcements here is staggering- and it's always from the same folks too!

OOOONNIIIUMMMUUUUUSSSHHHHAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

I'm so fucking hype from that one teaser. I screamed when I recognized what it was, I used to come home from school and beat Genma Onimusha daily. I fucking adore that series, probably my favorite games of all time.

The future is now lads. Those were the best TGAs in years.

One of my all time favorite game series. I'm just hoping they didn't turn it into a soulslike.

There's some people who are just miserable and don't enjoy anything in life. I pity them.

What a shitty year that a Mario clone collectaton actually won.

Like the game is okay but half the time it feels like Super Mario Odyssey and the other half you are gushing at all the references.

This was a poopy year for gaming.

Still nothing about Elder Scrolls 6.
Still nothing about GTA 6.
Still nothing about anything Dino Crisis related (sequel, remake, or remaster.)
Still no Resident Evil 9.
Still no Half-Life 3.

This year sucked.

Astrobot is a great game. No idea why people are crying about it.

Intergalactic has got me excited AF.
As another said, they are still thinking of the tech demo that was basically included with the launch PS5 console, rather than the more full fledged offering that released this year. One point of contention, if I may, is the fact that it's going out of its way to reference and celebrate properties that Sony actively ignores otherwise. But I digress.

The distribution of awards also makes my cynicism think that Sony paid a fat check for the awards it did get.

Side bar... was this year's awards just as ad-infested as last year's? I fully do not expect such hosting committees to learn ANYTHING about why people griped about it then, either.

Didn't Astrobot come included with the PS5 for free? It was a game included when my GF bought her PS5.
astros playroom. Astro bot is a full 3d platformer based off of Playroom. it wouldnt have won shit if there wasnt a new game in 2024

you ought to turn that cynicism thing off then. Spiderman 2 famously won 0 awards last year and sony was banking on it being the new hotness
