Hi,

I'm sorry to ask a nooby question... but...

...I have a PSP 2000 (TA-088v2 I think) on CFW 4.01 M33-2...

...and to update this to 5.50 GEN-D3 (is this the best one to update it to?) -- do I need to go to 5.50 Gen-D first? And then go to 5.50 GEN-D3... or am I missing a step or two?

Kind regards!

Since you're on M33, you can go right to GEN-D3 directly with the XGEN updater. You can get it on PSPSlimHacks, which I recommend.

You could if you wanted to, but I have a preference of PSH's servers. Good speeds, as opposed to Rapidshare and Megaupload. Mind you, oftentimes you get redirected to some crappy upload service on PSH, but when you can get a download on their servers it's a really good speed. Is it against the rules set from the 'powers that be' to upload your files straight to Filetrip? If it isn't, I recommend you do so as their servers are reasonably fast too.

I am trying to install 5.50GEN-A on my PSP Phat from 5.00 m33-6 and it says that it is corrupted. I saw something that said to hold L, it did not work...

I fixed it. Because i read the directions.
All the files need to be in psp/game/update/ all the files

You should try updating to GEN-D2 or D3. D3's the latest GEN at the moment.

After you have installed the M33 firmware, can you go straight to M33-6, or do you have to install the other ones first (M33-2, M33-3, M33-4) ect?
I believe that if you have something like 3.90 CFW, then you can update directly to 5.00 m33-6, and then from there update to the 5.50x ones.
But do not completely trust me on that. Make sure to google it because if I'm wrong, you could brick the psp.

You could update from 1.50 OFW if you wanted to.
As to the question, you can go onto M33-6 without going onto the other updates. Then, you can update to 5.50 GEN D3
