The Binding of Isaac, the crass-terpiece dungeon crawler, was a big hit on Steam when it was released last year. While there were talks of bringing the title to the 3DS' Eshop, they ultimately went nowhere - many believed that the Binding of Isaac might forever be a PC-only release.

    O ye of little faith.

On his website, McMillen went on to confirm that there would be new music and a "full 16-bit makeover" for the game. He stated that Nicalis is currently working on PS3/Vita versions of the game while talks with Microsoft and Nintendo are ongoing. He mentions the possibility of an iOS port, but only if it could meet his standards. The port should hopefully arrive sometime by the end of next year.

(You can see these tidbits, and more, here.)

Well, as the saying goes, "If you port it, they will come." This full fledged remake of the game should hopefully expand the game's audience while also encouraging the existing fanbase to give Isaac's hellish experiences another go.

I'd have to say I'm interested, but only time will tell whether this port is paradise or a disaster of biblical proportions.

    That's The Escapist's fault, not Gahars's :P

even that the so called blasphemy was the main reason that made the game atract attention (and sales) the game is already good the way it is so hope that they do not change it too much on this port. If they release it with few changes, it will be a day-1 buy for my Vita.

I think they can push Nintendo to take the game. Nintendo is trying to be more open to devs and the devs are persistent.

I was under the impression that it just wasn't easy enough to keep kids from buying it on the eShop.
If it had a rating, I'm sure it'd be M.

Just pure speculation though, the reason why they didn't accept it was because it wasn't rated in the first place.

Somehow I read it that it was bound on a certain console (ie. not transferrable). After re-reading the topic, I can see I was certainly wrong. :D

Nice to see indie games being available on multiple platforms! Does this make indie games less indie? :3

Being honest here, I don't really want to play this on a controller.
I usually love me my controllers, but with this game, it just doesn't work for me at all.

I would however like a non-flash based remake that doesn't freeze on my laptop quite so much.

There has been questionable religious content in a lot of games and on Nintendo platforms too, if the game had an ESRB rating it would've passed most likely.

81 hours of Binding of Isaac on Steam, will definitely get it on the Vita.

Here's hoping the extra content is added to the Steam version too though - or better yet have the remake available, this game really struggles with flash sometimes *cough*D20 abuse*cough*

EDIT: Quick Google after posting that turns out the remake is coming to PC too ^_^

I do always find it funny that a game like Isaac gets denied but a game like MadWorld which is obscenely violent and House of the Dead: Overkill, which held the record for the most instances of the word "fuck" in a game for quite a time, get allowed.

But w/e I'll enjoy it on my Vita.
