Well this happened back around February, but I guess I'll post it now. Anyway, I was at Borders looking around, and guess what I see? I see this book title "The Big Black Book of Xbox Mods." Well now looking back at it, I realize modchips are illegal in America.

Anyway, in the book it talks about soft mods, regular mods (the solder kind) and stuff like that. And in one of the pages I remember it saying that modchips are completely legal, and that you should not use this book to try and pirate. Man, and I couldn't buy the book because I didn't bring any money! And I live in America!

Oh, and it's copyright date was in like 2005.

the chips themselves are not illegal, its the manner on how you use them and how they are developed. using them for burnt games ect is a illegal act just as much as reverse engineering to create the chip.
