This is ridiculous. A physical copy of a series eShop games requires a digital download. Sure, the three games would require an expensive 16GB cart but, come on. Its bad enough for games like Wolfenstein II, but what is the point of a game which started out as an eShop exclusive having a physical release if you then have to fucking download the game?

I don't know that this really works in this case. If it sells poorly, they're much more likely to assume people don't care about the physical release, rather than assume people are displeased about downloading some extra data (which is common across consoles at this point).

Looking at some of the comments over on Nintendolife I’m not the only one who’s buttsore over this. Whether the publisher reads these comments or not is another question. There’s also a possibility that this release will make less sales than other physical releases which suggests a problem with this release only.

cheapening out for the 16gb cartridge is ridiculous, i mean i can understand company's dont want to pay for the 32gb one but 16 was used in many games and no one ever said they were expensive ... just a cash grab.

same problem with the switch megaman 1&2 collection. the total size of all the games is less then 2 gb and its released on a 2gb cart. they have no excuse not to load the entire collection on the cart as it clearly fits.

I actually installed all three games today to try them out but ended up deleting them all after about fifteen minutes and two battles. So boring.

Yeah that's garbage I'll be skipping this one which is unfortunate. Like others mentioned it's likely gearbox making the poor choices like usual.

This game might not require a digital download after all. The listing below does not mention anything about the game requiring a digital download. Other games listed on the same website which do require a mandatory download have the information in the listing.

Keep in mind this could be the website's fuck up. We wont know for certain until the game is released.

Seems the Banner Saga folks don't know (or at least aren't saying so).

It's a shame they've got bad press over this, looking through their Twitter they seem so lovely and excited for people to be playing their games :C

So many tweets like this.

You have to question at what point Nintendo should be held accountable if so many companies are going down this route despite (to my knowledge) the option of the bigger cart being an option. If it's that much higher a price, it'd be nice to see something done outside of this odd half cart half download option.

or maybe if 2 carts are cheaper, they could make a multi-cartridge release. they already did it, and 2 cartridges can fit in the game box.
With getting two carts, people might be willing to pay a touch more too. It's not a bad idea tbh

was Dragon Quest more expansive than other game?
but it was for a single game span over 2 carts.
Now it could be a little different when it's different games bundled together. that would allow users to sell them separately as full price games, so it's not a good idea to separate them entirely.

This is absolutely on the publisher (as opposed to the developers who simply made the mistake of picking a shitty publisher). They're already charging $10 more for the Switch edition than the other consoles which should offset the difference in the cost of the media. They're just a shitty company that wants to squeeze even more profit out of us by cheaping out on us.
