One of my favorite gaming genres, and one of many people's favorites as well, I may guess. Action-adventure games are usually characterized by a long and/or engrossing quest, with some action and (sometimes) RPGs elements thown into the mix.

Some well-known (or not so much) examples:
THE LEGEND OF ZELDA (Nintendo)
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GC), The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Snes)
METROID (Nintendo)
Super Metroid (Snes), Metroid Prime (GC)
RESIDENT EVIL (Capcom)
Resident Evil 2 (PS1), Resident Evil 4 (GC)
CASTLEVANIA (post-SOTN) (Konami)
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1), Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (GBA)
MEGAMAN (Capcom)
Megaman Legends (PS1), one of the few 3D games of the Blue Bomber
WONDERBOY (Sega)
Wonderboy in Monster World (GEN), Monster World IV (Mega Drive - japan only)
So, what are your thoughts about the genre, and your favorite games of it? I'd like to know GBAtemp's thoughts about it.
