I hate it because updates run at 0 Mbps half of the time (on gigabit!) but that's just me.

Mostly third-party exclusivity. Also doesn't help that EGS offers absolutely nothing beneficial to the consumer, pirated copies get you the same amount of features and support.

Because crucial features which make a digital store front...a store front are all but missing.

No community support, no mod support and right now there isn't even a fucking cart to tally up items

Forced exclusivity on a open platform, lack of features compared to Steam, stealing unnecessary information from the user without consent, kickstarter "stealing" at the last second of release etc.

That's what i'm wondering too. Would any of these games had ever come to PC if it wasn't for Epic?

    On your lap.
Epic games has bad security. I made an account for Fortnite, never used it and started getting suspicious login attempt emails.
I think PC games should be available on all storefronts as well as physical. I miss the days when I could buy my games and install them without a dodgy storefront in between, I just don't buy PC games at all now unless they're on Microsoft Store, GoG or independent of a digital storefront.

I wish that Epic Games Store was just another platform that could compete with Steam. But not like this...

Hopefully this won’t require AVX like Journey. Not being able to play that without AVX is kind of shitty.

Do you frequently buy 30 games at once? Is having shitty forums/blogs inbuilt into a client a crucial feature... I thought we had the internet at large for that one but I guess walled gardens are fashionable? Similarly mod support is not a thing I would turn my nose up at but https://www.moddb.com/ and a bunchof sites like it seem to still exist and being doing OK.

You're not trying to justify Epic having a game store. You've got some hard disdain toward Steam. Where did Newell touch you!? Seriously, this is desperation if I've seen it.The workshop is fantastic, because it's BUILT IN. The forums are dedicated and easier to traverse. Usually, you're where you want to be if you want to ask specific questions or find advice, walkthroughs, etc. Yes, those features are great to have. Necessary? No. Convenient? Yes. The "walled garden" (lol) has some great features and functionality. YOU don't agree with all of it? Great. Quit trying to goad people. Every one of your questions and concerns has been addressed at least 10 times. I don't know what it is with your trolling against Steam, but dear lord it's a different level. Every. Single. Thread.

I feel like it's just implied these days that something is epic exclusive.

It's not about being "happy". Happiness doesn't pay the bills. If you have a billion dollar company come to you and say "Hey we'll pay to port this game to PC as an Epic Exclusive, you in?" basically everyone is going to say "Of course" because who doesn't enjoy free money?
That's most likely what's happening with a lot of titles. Obviously not more modern titles, those are just straight up paychecks in the developer's pockets to keep games exclusive for a while. But again, when you can make more money it's hard to say no. The huge loss of sales is likely made up by Epic and once it's on steam you'll get a majority of those "missed" sales anyway.

    why
personally, when i get off my ass and finally buy new games, i buy 2-5 games at once. so a shopping cart is mandatory, i very highly doubt doubt I'm alone

having a per-game forum is super useful for quick and basic access to support or a game's economy if it has one, I've poked around in the steam forums from time to time when i was too lazy to go to some other site to try to get other support, so it's pretty useful to have. the benefit to having a forum dedicated to a single game outclasses various swiss army knife forums that do everything
edit: to add an extra point to this, a lot of the time you can get support from the devs themselves directly, or other experienced users, so you get a full spectrum of help. albeit the forums can be toxic or just filled with children that have no idea what they're talking about... but really what forum doesn't have that?

steam workshop is far easier to install mods than having to go to an external site like moddb or nexus, manually install the mod, or use their mod managers. mod selection is limited yes, but some people don't want to go super in-depth with modding a game

one thing steam has that literally no other storefront has that i enjoy, is uninstalling parts of a game, or removing DLC you don't use to save on disk space. for example, i can uninstall the campaign and singleplayer for black ops 3 and save myself somewhere around around 80GB. with black ops 4 on battle.net however, I'm stuck with the game being 150gb without being able to uninstall the multiplayer, battle royale, or DLC maps i don't play.

That has absolutely nothing to do with, nor should cause any form of hate toward the epic store. Sounds like your account just got hacked. This is a very silly reason and an isolated case. The average person to sign up for epic doesnt have this happen to them. It sounds like many here are just trying to find biased reasons to hate on the store and make it out to be far worse than it actually is. Sure, it's no Steam, but the overwhelming hatred from simple bias is childish and annoying.
