ds is a mess, there's like 50 different kinds and it's impossible to track what's where and what the best places to get them from is

acekard 2i is technically the best, r4i gold 3ds plus (r4ids.cn branded) comes in second. good luck finding acekard these days though. r4i gold 3ds plus is more recent so maybe it's still in production at least?

stay away from anything ezflash, garbage tier support I dont think I have to elaborate on that. if you're going to spend $60 on a gba card you might as well do the extra $40 and get everdrive gba for $100 and have an actually good card. goomba/goomba color is pretty good and majority of games run full speed with minimal graphical problems, so you might be happy with just everdrive gba, play gb/c games in gba mode with the emulator. everdrive gb is more expensive if you absolutely want to play games in gbc mode or on gbc.
I am not the person you are replying to, but I am curious as to why you say avoid everything EZ-Flash just because of their support service?

I personally have had an amazing experience so far with my EZ-Flash Omega Definitive Edition. The singular issue I have come across with it is that I cannot patch ROM hacks with the save-state mod. Otherwise, amazing hardware imo.

I have only had some issues with the EZ-Flash Parallel, hence the creation of the original post, hoping that @EZ-Flash2 would fix the issues. And they progressively have been, but it seems as of recent that it stopped at v1.06.

Their older stuff was pretty good, ez flash 3 supported all save types without having to save patch, it had rtc, and the internal battery was rechargeable. everything literally just worked on it. 4 was a downgrade with only supporting sram saves, and a non-rechargeable battery without rtc, but it was cheaper to produce and cheaper to get

then they rereleased the 4 with a newer kernel, with auto patching that too often just didnt work, and that was abandoned pretty quickly without it being fixed. at least I think you can still manually patch games using the pc client and disable auto patcher and it mostly works like the older ez flash 4. then ez flash reform, another re release of ez flash 4 with the same issues. to their credit they replaced the battery with a socket, so you can easily just take it apart and replace the battery when it runs out

ez flash junior, still producing them and selling them, latest firmware update to supposedly fix issues people were having has problems of its own (and updating can simply brick the card too which is super fun), you are the beta tester risking your hardware you paid for with no refund if their update messes you up, glhf and all that stuff

the omega is generally good, I can't really complain about the base edition being worse because it's supposed to be the budget version of the card, corners were cut to make it cheaper to produce so it could be sold at a lower price in the first place. it was still an upgrade over the ez flash 4 at the time

if you absolutely need save states and cheats and stuff like that, then get the omega definitive edition. it's the only card that will do it, and even though some people have problems with saving on the omega de, usually it works using a different microsd card, and once you have one that works you shouldnt really have issues. but if you do have issues (bug in the firmware or kernel that makes something not working) dont expect ezflash to be here to fix anything on their end

if you dont absolutely need save states and cheats, you just want to play games, even though the ez flash omega de is a good card, the company behind it just does not deserve your money, not when 3/4ths of their product line is intentional garbage that they refuse to support, not when the everdrive gba is only slightly more expensive for absolutely stellar quality, from someone who actually cares about delivering a good product

I agree, the EZ Flash Omega is great I'd argue that you don't really need the DE unless you are really wanting that extra content, but I also wish that was in the base Omega as they only added a handful of stuff that isn't exactly completely game changing, and that's where my biggest problem lies with the Parallel, as if they leave it like this and release a DE version I'd be mortified, and as long it's been since the last update I wouldn't be surprised if a 70$ DE Parallel releases at the crack of dawn tomorrow, and that is just unfortunate, despite it being a hypothetical at the moment it still shouldn't be a fear let alone a thought that something like that is theoretically not unrealistic to happen.

yup exactly, like oh you had issues with our product? well buy the new one to fix those problems! and those who bought the old one get no recourse, no option for a trade in or discount even

The everdrive lacks other things like rumble and mode b.
