It used to always be periodically looking for any new notifications and notified me with a number on the tab icon. Now, it only checks for new stuff if I switch to the tab.

Are you sure that's not a Chrome thing (could be some memory optimisation of theirs)? Because unless I'm mistaken I'm not having any issues seeing those notifications in Waterfox (Firefox).

    I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
