Well I obviously know that it won't work on the latest cfirmware, but what cfw will it work on?

Since it's an old game any custom firmware will probably be fine.

I had a problem with tekken for a while. It finally started working when I installed the 1.50 kernal

This game has known to have problems with the M33 Driver. Try the Sony N9(something like that) Driver instead.
