I know suicide is no laughing matter but I did laugh about this.
Ironic he decided to jump off a building considering Naruto is published in Shonen Jump.
Or maybe it was intentional?
To be fair, I contemplated jumping off a building whenever I had to sit through Naruto.
After reading the full article, it's pretty sad that kids these days can't separate fiction from reality, heck, I grew up reading and watching hundreds of books and series, also played tons of stuff and it never made a difference.
This seems to happen a lot these days with the WoW and GTA incidents that some kids have already caused, I guess it's the parents fault or the environment they grew up in to blame.
I wonder if anime will now become forbidden in Russia because of this. xP
What makes this even more painful is that, after a quick google, it appears this character gets resurrected anyway.
Unfortunately this Russian lad has no hopes of being resurrected like in a fictional TV show.
Naruto in general is not worth dying over.
Yeah...sad kids these days can't differentiate reality from fiction. Giving the more reason for many to consider computer games, console games, manga, anime, cartoon, comic, etc. as something bad for the soul. Gaming, manga, etc. are for fun and enjoyment, not something to take too seriously about to a point it bias reality from fantasy.
Wat. Itachi died at least 2 years ago in the main series. I guess that scanlators are a bit slow in Russia?
Sad to see the teen did this, especially after reading an above comment that says that character gets resurrected... Sucks.
Except this doesn't have anything to do with a kid having problems separating fiction from reality.
It's about a kid who doesn't agree with the creators' choices. To show that he doesn't agree, he commits suicide.
Now what we don't know is what goes on in the kid's mind. Perhaps there were other reasons, which he hasn't revealed to anyone, to why he choose to end his life..
btw... This thread is such a spoiler to us who haven't watched Naruto up-to-date
I guess it makes more of an impact than a strongly worded letter to The Sunday Times.
Technically, he died again after that since it was not a true resurrection. More like zombification. But that is beside the point.
But back on topic, reading stories like these make me weep for humanity. Kinda like when I read about this dude who sold his organ(s) [kidneys I think it was] just to get an iPad 2.
Or maybe he was generally depressed and all it took was one tiny thing to push him over the edge.
Might I add to an already spoiled discussion....Itachi did get resurrected but died again soon after he straighten Sasuke's mind and defeated 'sanin mode' Kabuto. Now there...this completely spills the soup.
Back on topic, yeah I do agree with Elrinth, the anime could just be a trigger on top of an already troubled teen. Then again, the ability to differentiate reality from fantasy also plays a significant role in the equation. It's not a wonderment to know Russia tv is behind on the anime episodes, in my country same condition too. Had to watch online to keep up to date with the series.
If this kid would do something as drastic as end his own life over something so trivial, he obviously had underlying mental issues.
I suppose mental health isn't a priority in Russia, seeing the teen suicide rate.
I was gonna make a joke but I thought it might seem a little ironic.
He probably had alot more problems and this just gave that final push that make him kill himself.
I can't believe people these days.
I would have trouble separating fiction from reality too, if I was hit with Itashi genjutsu/bad jk.
That's pretty sad... :/
