This time it's a quote!

"Nyo, now I'm worried!" Though in the show "Nyo" sounded like "Mew"
Now who said it? in reference to what? and what show is it from?

deoxys (what ever that thing was)

x and y are the coordinates there
I was gonna say that.
Clever, but really, this thread should be renamed "Daily Temper Dingbat Thread"
Cause thats what it is; a dingbat.

So, we're assuming that this is one equation that produces a graph that looks like that? Or multiple equations?

Ice was right about one function y=(1/x) and y=-(1/x). However, sin(x) makes waves. But you can produce the two parabolic shapes by using y^2 = x or -y^2 = x some variant of that.

Anyway, a 1:1 would be nice rather than have it stretched out like that.

2/x;
-2/x;
(1/8)sqrt(-x-1);
-(1/8)sqrt(-x-1);
(1/8)sqrt(x-1);
-(1/8)sqrt(x-1);

Just as an example.

I can't remember but to get a 1:1, you have to set more values for the horizontal vs the vertical since the TIs are stretched funny.

Did y'all never learn hyperbolas

X^2 / A^2 - Y^2 / B^2 = 1

and then you can rotate them 45 degrees and get XY = 1

That picture is a bit confusing because it makes it look like y=+-1 are asymptotes for the two turned ones.

so it would be something like Y = 1/X, Y = -1/X, and the other one broken into two

A seems to be about 1/2, so 4X^2 - Y^2/B^2 = 1
What's B? No idea. I don't have a calculator to put in random digits, but if you solve for Y

+-SQRT(B^2(X^2/A^2 - 1)) = Y
trying 1/2 for A and 1/2 for B
Y = +- SQRT(X^2 - .25)

That's about as far as I can go.
