Team Xecuter reveal info on upcoming Switch modchip

SwitchTX.jpg

Just over a week ago, team Xecuter announced that they are working on a soon-to-be-revealed modchip for the Nintendo Switch. This was big news because modchip devices are usually used to circumvent anti-piracy measures on many digital platforms, but mainly gaming systems, and to see one already in the works for a machine that is only 10 months old is very rare.

Since then the team have been quiet, no one knows what the device will look like, how it will work, or when they can get their hands on one - but GBAtemp can exclusively reveal today that there will be BOTH a solder AND solderless option of team Xecuter's Nintendo Switch modchip.

Here is a direct quote from team Xecuter:

For now, I can tell you there is a solder and solderless version. We have quite a lot in the works, you will have more info soon.

The difference in pricing should be interesting in the two versions of the device, but at least you can now rest safely, knowing that the team will be providing options for whatever the Xecuter Switch modchip turns out to be.

Stay tuned to GBAtemp for more info in the upcoming weeks.

I am going to wait and decide on Solderless or Soldered depending on what advantages one has over the other, how you install it, and the price. If the Soldered one has extra features from tapping into spots on the board that the solderless one cannot reach, then that may make or break which one to get.

Both will have same features

Sold out in 3-2...
yeah this is a real concern i remember when the russian kamakazi hack was released they came out with a drive board that you didn't need to drill through with surgical precision and it sold out right away and the chips were in short supply ,it took them years to make more
i doubt that this thing uses any such rare chips though and they probably have learned from their experience and wil make a bigger production run hopefully

Im expecting this to be scalped immediatly. Hope they have some sort of limit of modchip purchases before everyone ends up on a backorder list for months

This might be a stupid question, but now that yuzu is out and this. Do you still need a switch for homebrew or can I install chip with yuzu PC and bypass the switch hardware necessity. I know this has probably already been asked before but idk if you need a switch. I'm a PC guy and I hate how clunky the switch is to lug around everywhere.

With a fully functioning emulator, a PC and games is all you'd need.
