Team Bondi are now bankrupt and the remaining staff are going to be bought by KMM, including Brendan McNamara who was instrumental in sealing the deal. Apparently Depth Analysis (the sister company who own the face tech) are also in some trouble after making little to no money off of LA Noire (like TB themselves).

Rockstar own the LA Noire ip, so it will be interesting to see what happens next.[/p]Source

This is what happens when your game focuses too much on looks, without having any replay value.

It was probably all Rockstars fault.
The game was completely different until Rockstar came into the picture.

Maybe they should have held out for Square-Enix, or even just made it themselves. Rockstar makes some nice games, but it's almost always a GTA clone in another place and time.

What I find strange is that other Rockstar games have replay value, and quite a lot of it.

i guess the years of research must have cost them alot in addition to hiring actors. lots of costs for a game to have. then again, it could be something internal.

The game gets really boring after a few hours and no replay value.
Too much effort on the expressions and even then it looks TOO MUCH o.o things are TOO obvious with the way they move their eyes and stuff.

Sad it didnt sell too well.. heck, even I didnt buy it lol.

The game costing too much couldn't have anything to do with this bankrupt. Sony paid for over 60% of the development cost of the game. Hell Sony has recently said they have plans to help continuing the game with more DLC. Yes the game is for a niche market. However it sold really well in this niche market. I myself didn't think the game was going to be that much fun. My brother rented it. Wanted something different to play for a change. After giving it a go, I went out and bought a copy and all the current DLC.

Rockstar paid for the remaining development cost. Something else must of happened internally, something not yet leaked to the press.

As I said before, Rockstar probably made them a mess.
They pay them to change the game completely and then steal their work (the face motion thing).

I guess it should also be added the whole development process was apparently one long in cohesive mess with a large staff turnover and the whole Rockstar shenanigans as Prowler mentioned. L.A Noire was a really good game though and from what I saw enjoyed some good sales.

I have seen a few video of the game before rockstar stepped in. What did they change? Cause I don't see any real differences? Are you sure your not looking at the game threw rockstar-hate goggles? Despite whatever really happened sony doesn't show any hate at them and will be funding further DLC development.

I like Rockstar, not hating on them.

From what I hear (Neogaf) LA Noire was going to be a brawling game until Rockstar stepped in.

Actors are always lying. If you tell them to look like they're lying they're obviously going to ham it up a bit. Its kind of a bit of a flaw in the idea if nothing else.

It sucks that they're bankrupt. I thought LA Noire was absolutely fantastic and it sucks that Team Bondi themselves won't get a chance to make a sequel to the game and it will be instead done by somebody else (who could potentially ruin it rather than improve it)

Its pretty easy to act "a lie".
The constant flickering of eyes and looking away makes it too damn obvious. Could have done a better job than that.

But either way, I like the new tech.

That easiness was there to actually let players accomplish something. Lying is easy. And not necessarily easy to see in someone, especially in a game where the characters are pre-scripted and limited to where they're placed. Exaggeration, sadly, is often necessary. But, it's not so bad--after all, that's where theatre stems from. Making sure the point is readily available.

I think the actual killer of this was that even though the game is awesome to pretty much everyone, a game in development for this long, with an assload of costs, and then a merger, and a bunch of money plastered into the facial animations?

It was set to sink. But it was pretty right before the iceberg.
