It's probably a case of the Xenoblade phenomena, meaning that they are doing everything they can to be sure Europe get's this first

Granted the european version will still be out due november.

But no biggy, get over it. Europe has been dealing AGES with this crap while americans got to enjoy it earlier. I hope we get to see this more often tbh.

so just because in the past it happen to you it serves us right that it's happening to us now? last time i checked we didn't make them release the games at a later date for you guys.
only problem is Bamco is bad about cancelling game releases all together(especially tales games) in this day and age it's ridiculous to not release a game in both Europe and the US, where as back in the day's of SNES marketing wasn't so wide spread for games and RPG's where a nitch fan base and the internet wasn't as wide spread so what people wanted couldn't really be heard and today RPG's have a more wide fan base.
as for Xenoblade, The Last Story, and Pandora's Tower we won't get them AT ALL even though they will already be translated into English in Europe, it's like in the case of Terranigma a VERY VERY amazing game (i have a reproduction cart of it) that isn't just your average RPG and we don't get it and Europe does.
the point is game companies have no excuse now days, we have shown interest in these titles and that we want them released in the states and not even NoA is willing to give us a few decent jRPG games on the Wii.
no one should have to do without a game just because they are to lazy to release it even though it's already translated.

I dont understand why people in NA are complaining. If you want to play it, then play it on your PS2. The only addition to the 3DS version is the 3D and the lesser-quality font.
Other than that its the same game but wuth jaggies.

Why release the game anyway? If anyone can just play it on their PS2 (bold on anyone, because as you assume, everyone has a PS2).

Because who wants to pay 30-75 dollars for a scratched to hell disc?, from ebay.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First come delays, next comes the cancellations, than the nintenerds and tales of addicts start the bitching and useless campaigning. rinse and repeat for the next NA limited release game.

You mean like one console use to get some people into gaming which is still no excuse for devs to not developed for.
They aren't just casual people playing Nintendo consoles and portables.

then it's the 3rd party's fault for not making a game that can go toe-to-toe with 1st party games. seriously, if they want a bigger share of the market, then don't blame Nintendo for making better games. they themselves should push harder to make much better games. all they really need to do is hang out where gamers hang out, get a feel for what gamers want, and find a way to mash em all up together in one title.

think Cross Treasures, where the gamers themselves were polled to see what features they'd want on a game. of course, Cross Treasures was strictly Japan-only, and even then didn't perform too well sales-wise. but hey, i myself can vouch for the quality of the game, and the options available to the player was awesome.

and to those people who are waiting for Tales of Abyss, why not get the 3DS earlier? i mean, it's not like the title has been cancelled you know. it's still coming out. eventually. and by then you'll probably get a feel for how the 3DS works, and you'll be used to the sweet spot. this way, you can focus on the game more.

Yes, blame third parties for not being good enough instead of blaming Nintendo for essentially advertising their systems into a no-man's land of casual playing. Nintendo is of course Jesus Christ reincarnate.

I've played significantly better third party games than Nintendo games. It's not a matter of them being "lazy", it's a matter of how Nintendo markets and makes their consoles nowadays.

People are saying, dev are waiting because most people will go for the the first party first using most if not all their money. Then when first party pretty much done in by the holidays. People will only have 3rd party to pick from afterwards when they get more money.

Basically they are "scare" their games will get beaten by Nintendo games.

It'll probably just sell less because it's a JRPG and it's not Japan. Only reason Xenoblade sold as well as it did in Europe is because it had a huge fan movement behind it. You think even Tales fans are going to go all up in arms because a remake is a bit delayed? No, they can just play the PS2 version which they probably own because they're Tales fans. Xenoblade was an original JRPG by a pretty notable team with Nintendo publishing. Tales is Tales.

Well... anyone can't because it wasn't released in the EU on PS2. What I meant to say is that this game is already available in NA. If you're really desperate to play it, get a cheap modded PS2 and download the ISO. Otherwise siddown and shaddup!

Because the japanese version is out >__>;;

And I would not trust anything about a tales of game based on nintendo power concidering their track record with tales of games >_>; that being said it sounds exactly what bandai namco would do... annoy the english speaking fans

Because everyone simply pirate games nowadays.
rolleyes.gif

Not everyone wants to pirate/mod/buy a PS2 and/or mod. And even if they do, there'll be no need to buy the game later then, so no/less sales for the 3DS version at all.

There's no way this is a good move at all. The fuck'n portable will have only 1 great (AAA) game released until Mario in November. How's that a good thing for Nintendo? It'll only piss off the fanbase, nobody wants keep playing OoT 3D and other older games for months.

Nice strategy. Avoid the big rush of 1st party games, wait for more people to own a 3DS, and hit em with a popular title.

I see how it is.

Well at least its coming out none-the-less, longer delay means proper translation.
Except that everything has been translated since the ps2 version (well, exept for the instructions in a certain obscure minigame but w/e) and no new dialogue is added (err... except maybe the tutorial for the console button differences)
closedeyes.gif
its essentially a direct port.

It could technically be released right now for that matter

It's no secret that you voice your opinion as if everyone think Nintendo is almighty, so you have to be that one individual that voices your opposition like Nintendo is the devil. In a similar scenario, people could say you praise Sony as almighty, especially with how hooked you are on the device that hasn't been released yet.

Yes, you may have played better 3rd-party games than Nintendo games, but that is because those kind of games appeal to you, just like others say that they enjoy Nintendo games more than games made by 3rd-party developers.

Not at all, that's all I have to say there. I think Sony is making the better handheld this generation and I've lost a lot of faith in Nintendo since they took this whole route of underpowered, casual-advertised electronics.

So if someone says that Nintendo first parties are the best, no one calls them out on it stating that's only opinion. When I say the contrary, I'm told "It's only your opinion".

I fucking love double standards.

What? If you talking about the 3DS, how would they know it "underpowered" when they release it?
Also there are nothing indicating they are going for the causal market(they just seem to be going for everyone), especially when themselves say the aren't.

I didn't feel like pointing it out where, but you do double standards too.

How do other commercials even indicate "causal".

I know it from 2009,but
QUOTEReggie not a hardcore gamer or a casual gamer, Nintendo listens to fans, more
January 6th, 2009 Posted in DS, General Nintendo, News, Posted by Valay, Wii

Reggie Fils-Aime must be on a high right now. Things couldn’t be any better at Nintendo and the man is still kicking ass and taking names while working as the President of Nintendo of America. Reggie certainly has a huge influence on the company, so one might be wondering what type of gamer he is. Well, he says he’s not a hardcore or casual gamer.

“The labeling of “core” and “casual” implies one is better than the other and just builds more divisions between people. I’m a game player. We’re all game players. If I had to classify myself into a category, I’d say I’m a competitive game player. I’m going to do my best to knock your kart off the track in Mario Kart DS, crush you at tennis in Wii Sports, head more soccer balls than you in Wii Fit, pay off my mortgage before you do in Animal Crossing: City Folk and out-strategize you in Advance Wars: Days of Ruin.”

Reggie also commented on a few other interesting issues, specifically if Nintendo listens to its fans and if the company is interested in creating new IPs:

“We listen to our fans all the time. Nintendo fans are some of the most passionate in the world, and believe me, they make their opinions heard. We’re not claiming our way of doing things is better or worse than anyone else – it’s just different. We’re on record for each of the items you cite, so I won’t rehash all that here. But I will say that we listen very closely to what people have to say, both pro and con, and keep those feelings in mind as we plan ahead. For example, as you know, we recently launched Club Nintendo here in North America to reward our fans for their loyalty. I know everyone here always envied Japan and Europe fans for the cool Nintendo items they had, and now we’re getting some of our own.

We’re always developing new games and experiences and part of that includes looking at whether it makes sense to create new franchises and new characters. Some gamers want completely new games, while others want another Mario or Zelda game the minute they finish playing the one that just came out. Striking that balance keeps us all very busy! Nintendo makes games for everyone, so you’ll find everything from E-rated to M-rated titles.”

Have you seen any commercial by Nintendo like in the past 5+ years? It's just kids and old people going "WOW IT MOVES" or "WOW YOU CAN TOUCH IT" or "IT'S LIKE I CAN TOUCH YOU!" (to anyone who gets this reference, I will lol).

It doesn't matter if I do, everyone's a hypocrite (myself included), the fact is that people won't call shit on Nintendo that they'd gladly call on Sony.

Even though Nintendo has the reputation of building underpowered consoles (and obviously 3DS cannot compete with Vita's power) We do not know the exact power of the 3DS, yet.

But, I still have to agree about Nintendo's poor advertising.

Edit: horrible english

I remember Nintendo's commercials back in the SNES days and it were also mostly kids in those commercials. Who cares?
