Gaming Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the new world Ending *CONTAINS SPOILERS&#3

Okay I just completed ToSotNW and i think it was a good game, i've just got one question.
So Emil was apperently Ratatosk with the body of Aster and the personality of Emil...
But I don't get this: at the end of the game Ratatosk divides into the core and Emil, apperently the Emil with the looks of Ratatosk(the one you played in the game) But what happened to the REAL Emil, the one's parents were killed by Decus(as Lloyd), My guess is that Emil was killed too and Ratatosk just took his personalty because he ran into Emil's mom(His mom said she couldn't even look at him because she was too wounded, so that would seem like a posibilty). What do you think happened? Am I wrong about this?

(Btw: why were some of the ending movies in a lower resolution? was it because the framerate would decrease too much otherwise?)
