A is standard attack. Combine with up/down on the D-Pad for different attacks (A+Up is an aerial attack, A+Down is a low attack).

B is special attack or whatever you want to call it. You can assign different attacks to B and the D-Pad (such as B+Left/Right, B+Up, B+Down)

X brings up the menu so you can use items, special attacks, etc.

Y is block. You can hold why and press Left/Right on your D-Pad to either dash forward or jump back.

    Left Trigger is switch character.

    Right Trigger is switch target.

game is saved at the following places:
Inn: talk to the innkeeper, and tell him you want to save.
green holes: press A while standing on top of one will save the game, and restore your health.
overworld: press X to open the menu, and choose save from the system submenu.

and for combo's, i do believe combo's are shared.
that means, time it right and you and an AI character can take "breaks" in turn to keep the combo going.

I still can believe we are indeed playing such piece of art in our beloved DSes!

I´m right now about to begin TOI for the first time, so the info above´s appreciated!

-Sigh, memories suddenly came back at me while I enjoyed Tales of Destiny 2 for PSX, or Phantasia in SNES-

    Cheers ; )

Yeah but I mean that when I first found out how to switch chars in battle I stopped fighting but my AI partner Luca (there wasn't anyone else) had up to a combo of ten by himself.

Its their Artes...You could just look around the menu and you would have found it.

    -edit-
Don't doublepost, but anyways skits are just little conversations between the characters (use select to start a skit). Sometimes they comment on the number of battles, other times its just amusing stuff.

Press "select" and you'll get to see funny/informative scenes between the characters.

Regain TP with orange gels, or other TP regaining items (which aren't that many).
You also gain a small amount by default after every battle. But I mean, really small.
    Cooking is also another choice.

I assume there will be items/abilities to help regain TP, as there usually is.

So this is just about the only Tales game where hitting an enemy doesn't replenish TP? Or am I just behind on the times?

By default, no, you don't replenish TP automatically in combat, but I assume there will be abilities that allow it at some point. I can't remember which games in the series had that and which didn't -it's been a while, haha.

I'm about four hours in, level 20-ish. Totally loving this game.

Eh it's about 50/50. Some do, some don't. Though it seems most Tales games are switching to 1 hit = 1 TP these days.

Luca's Obsidian replenishes his TP periodically. I think it's from the weapon's ability.

    TP Potions, or items.
Also, after every battle you recover like ... a little.
