    hai everybody!
    i'm currently coding a System Menu Replacement.
    Here Is What It May/Will Have
    Freeware tools (think MPlayer, WiiCalc, audio playback. maybe even while running Wiindows? aka multitasking, GNU Style Tools)

    * basic text editor (think notepad) [started]
    * mp3 playback is a possibility
    * GH3 Les Paul As A Controller (X)
    * graphical frontend
    * keyboard i/o
    * basic text editor
    * executable file launching (elf/dol)
    * launching more channels (check mii out, photo channel, wii shop, etc)
    * chromium os esque look
    * threaded applications (Single User/Multitask)*
    * launch opera to a specific site (based off of bootOpera's Source, but it uses keyboard input instead of a text file
    * Paging file on SD
    *Depends on the size of the application, and if the wii can even handle it or not

    Here Is The RC1 Link And Wiibrew Page

    Gamecube controller as a control option if it's not already.

    get some gui action up in there, maybe try to implement window features from compiz or the likes. oh and auto-updating is always nice. I suck at keeping up with releases.

    lol.
    auto updating is also planned, i just haven't implemented it yet.
    i'm thinking a GUI Similar To Chrome, but with a taskbar at the bottom.

    Hmm...I don't mean to trash-talk the effort, but between priiloader's ability to launch the wii in an USB loader and USB CFG's ability to display both game ISO's and homebrew forwarder iso's, I can't think of much that I'm missing. It's been several weeks since I actually saw the wii menu, and I don't miss it the least bit. The reason is simple: my wii is a gaming console. As such, I want all the non-gaming I do to take up as little effort as possible. And though I admit not everyone might feel the same way about it, I think that goes for a lot of people.

    As such, I'd like to suggest to automatically add channels for each homebrew installed on the SD card (and USB drive). Kinda combine the wii menu and the homebrew channel.

    (note: I'm not tech-savvy, and have no idea if that is even possible. You said you wanted requests, so I give you one. I don't mean to nag [IMG] )

    I second that idea as well as the ability to autoboot GC games when they are inserted.

    1) Blue Screen of Death feature
    2) Have a sort of "IOS Patcher"/downloader at the menu so we can pick and choose IOS at will

    That's it, really o_o

    I meant a user choice to download an IOS, trucha patch it or not (or something like that), and install it. I highly doubt that has relations to anything I just read.

    No, I meant the whole damn thing isn't going to happen. This isn't even going to get as far as Freedom did. [IMG]

    My apologies for misinterpreting the meaning of your post. It's the fact that it linked to a "Patching an IOS" thread that got me. [IMG]

    USB Loader GX is actually a really good System Menu replacement.

    It can launch Apps, Channels, and Games.
