Take away from the noobs the ability to specify tags for the created threads.
They (noobs) are too dumb alternatively smart to understand what these tags mean.
Example:
Feedback Misc Review: GBATEMP live chat or IRC chat... (Is that Already Available)?
That's something I like/probably would use
Misc Review: Does Skype come on a disc for PSP?
I see that there are some programs for PSP on a disc

(I don't know much about PSP)

There was also a bunch of tutorials representing a cargo cult at best case, I'm too lazy to search for it. And so on.

Thread tags are useless. And I believe EOF has made sure to show how useless tags are.

It was supposed to be used as a sorting filter or so I recall... :unsure:

Anyway, don't think it's going to get changed.

Then just remove them (tags) completely.
On threads that are really worth it, the necessary tags can be put by the moderator of the section. There are actually very few of them (such worthy threads).
In its current state, it's just a colorful trashyard.

Could always just block them yourself, point your ad blocker at them or userscript/browser custom css with:
CSS:
.labelLink, .label-append {
   display: none;
}

Sure they're misused at times, but I think overall they work well enough

ublock is always good for sure (I probably already have 50 or so lines of rules dedicated only to gbatemp in it), but this is not a solution to the problem.
It will be just another blind eye to the problem.

It's only a problem for you though so why not fix it on your end? The tags are a legitimately useful post identification feature

Taking away from noobs wouldn't really solve anything, all it does is make all posts be incorrectly tagged instead of some, and as mentioned by staff can report mistagged threads

Oh no. I'm not going to interfere with the moderators to do their job.
Until today - yes, I sometimes reported something about something like that.
But that desire somehow disappeared.
Let everything continue to sink in shit. Why do anything when you can successfully do nothing.
Finding something by searching is already a big problem (there are no options for sorting the results, the results are not ordered by time, etc.), tags do not help with simple 'subsections' sorting, ignoring sections or individual topics is not provided, ignoring persons is some kind of joke, constant spammers. But there are many, many different ads everywhere.
Well, nevermind. After all, it's not my problems. Good luck.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    @K3Nv2, I think the RP5 has had 8GBs for a while? I know mine has 8GBs not sure it's needed for emulation though? Probably 4GBs is enough for 99% of what it's fast enough to emulate? I could be wrong if it can do like GC and PS2 stuff maybe more is needed? Probably stream the ROMs like the consoles did off the drives.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    I believe what they do is OS and translation layer (emulator) and the emulator has its RAM like 36MBs for PS2 so like 3 times that maybe as things are shuffled around, a frame buffer and. Load the data from the ROM file into that systems RAM. I think I read that even 2GBs is enough if your just using a Pi for emulation.

    What's an RP5?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Raspberry Pi 5

    For me it's just an emulation machine
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Like a super mini system, I use Batocera as an OS and it's pretty easy to set up, has a ton of UI skins you can make it look almost anyway you want. Still would kill for a WiiFlow like skin (some are close)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    I bought the 8GB model because my thoughts on that is the the difference between the models is like 20 bucks so why not get the good one just in case.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Almost never hear anyone complaining about too much RAM but not enough? Yeah best to avoid that one. Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    I did kind of overshoot on storage, a 2TB nvme drive and I think 1TB would have been plenty.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Probably have like 700GBs of stuff on it now, and don't think I can add much more.
