I've already completed the game in "Normal Mode", and now i'am trying to play throu the "Master Quest"-Mode.

I'am already an adult and have access to the LonLon Farm where i can challenge Basil... but i can't beat him... not even in the first of the 2 races! He's way to fast! No matter if i use my speed carrorts at the beginning of the race or later - He's always a big step ahead. I'am really despaired! I can't manage to get Epona!

It was no problem to beat him twice in Normal Mode. I really don't know what to do. What am i doing wrong? I can't belive i can't find anything about my problem on the whole internet - Is my cartridge broken?

A few tips for beating Basil are to always stay on the inside, and never EVER use your last carrot. Go down to one, but never use the last one - you always slow right down after it and your carrots take longer to regenerate.

Thanks, i keep that in mind! I'am already staying on the inside - But he's always in front of me and blocks the way... i can't belive i'am the only one with the problem... am i so clumsy?

I assume you are referring to Ingo. I don't know why they don't use the same name in different languages, considering they aren't regular words.

Like muckers said, don't use your last carrot. The only exception is when you are right at the finish line. I have two more important tips.
    1. Try to stay on the dirt path, as you will go a little slower on the grass
    2. When the race starts, you have a small window to get in front of him. I believe it's at the first turn. If you can do that, then you can just block his path the rest of the race so he can't pass you.

I already tried this. I was hammering on the A-Button to use all my carrots to get in front of him, but he starts a little earlier that me an moved to the left immediately to block me off. Sounds stupid, i know.

I will follow you'r tips and try it again. This just has to work! :shy:

Watch this to see where you can get in front of him.

:ha: OK... i didn't knew that it is possible to do the race against Ingo (Basil) with an other horse than Epona.

I had always payed the 10 rupees, entered the paddock and always used the first horse i saw, talked to him and started the race. I didn't played Eponas Song first. And it is impossible to win against him with a "nomal" horse. Did everybody know that beside me? :(

I would love to help you out but I can't. I have never been able to beat Ganon in the original mode. Although I have yet to actually try on the 3DS and never owned the n64 versions. Always played it on the gamecube and I know there is some framerate drops when played non-naively.

Just keep at it. It took me quite a while to do this, too (even in regular mode on the N64, when I was a wee lad)

    I've done it!

If you do the race with Epona, both races are easy. I f you forget to call her and take any other horse, it's completely impossible!

Sorry to hear that. I owned the N64 Version when i was 17, in these days i only played the game to the 3rd Dungeon. I guess i was 25 when i first completed the game on GameCube. Last year, with 29, i completed the game on 3DS (Normal mode), and now, with 30, i'am playing the master quest mode on 3ds :D

Phantom Ganon is way harder than the actual Ganon. I have beat OOT so many times it should be taken away from me, I have it on N64, my PC emulator, Gamecube (Zelda Collection Disc), & 3DS. That game has taken so much of my money over the years but it was worth it.

I agree. tracking Phantom Ganon through paintings could be a pain sometimes. Honestly, that bothered me because, in all honesty, I hate boss battles that rely too much on chance. Sure, a lot of OoT boss battles have SOME chance (Volvagia popping out of holes, for example), but they're all completely doable if you're paying attention. But with Phantom Ganon, sometimes you just flat-out don't have enough time to react.

Phantom Ganon is totally one of the worst bosses. Usually I just stand in the middle of the room, get my bow out, and spin around until I see the two images of him. It usually works pretty well... unless there's more than one painting in between them... and then it just depends on how lucky I am. =/

I never found Phantom Ganon to be much of a problem as long as I use the strategy above. If the painting's aren't next to each other, I just roll around if I'm aimed at the wrong one.

I always hated the Shadow Temple and Bottom of the Well.
