Hacking SXOS no emu sd card upgrade?

Could someone let me know how simple it would be to upgrade my SD card?
is exfat formatted from switch

I asked earlier but was confused as someone said theres an emunand stipulation
I'm already console banned so dont see much advantage to using emu

im on SX OS, exfat, 256GB wanting to switch to 512GB sandisk or samsung (is a 1TB sd card even worth it... ~$250usd for trusted brand)
would it be as simple as plugging new sd card into switch so it gets the Nintendo file, then dragging and dropping all the visible files from Old sd to -> New sd

sorry if this was answered somewhere else I searched but most mentioned the emunand aspect
should i backup my saves?

my last nand backup was over 1.5 years ago

any help and advice would be greatly appreciated

If you're not using emuNAND simply copying the files over is enough.
I still recommend emuNAND for added brick protection. Seen many times people losing their NAND backup and later needing it. If you use emuNAND and it gets bricked, you still have a working console and it's easy to simply re-create it from your sysNAND.

I think I will upgrade to the 512GB
transfer over, and maybe setup an EMUnand for that added brick protection

debating if i should buy an sd card now, or wait for Holiday sale
at ~80usd its not a bad investment

but may hold off as I can delete a few titles

Also, take this chance to format the new card as FAT32, it'll save you trouble later down the road.

The big point here. You shouldn't have any trouble transferring from your exFat card to a fresh FAT32. I did the same thing and it went pretty well.

id prefer to keep it on exfat to avoid the 4gb file transfer limit i heard about...
if i ever need to install xci i think?
i primarily utilize tinfoil for DL's these days so not sure if fat32 is a better option?

Mostly stability and to avoid corruption. There are users who are on exFat and have had no issues. My first Switch was exFat and worked great. I tried exFat on my current Switch and had corruption the 3rd day. Fun times.
