Hacking Question SX OS Emunand won't boot 8.1

So, my friend asked if I can mod his switch for his after seeing mine done. His console SN starts with XAW40001, so I said sure. Updated him to 8.1 using official Nintendo update. I installed SX OS 2.8 beta and backed up his nand. In sx os I enabled emunand but when attempting to boot into CFW via emunand, It goes to a white Nintendo logo then black. Looks like its about to boot but doest. If I reboot in SX OS I can boot successfully into OFW via emunand. I have not tried to boot into cfw via sysnand because I want to keep that clean.

EDIT: I even tried to boot with emunand disabled, and it won't boot CFW... OFW continues to work..

Few things I feel weird about his switch are...

1. When loading the payload for sx os I NEED to hold down + on the switch or else SX OS logo pops up for a brief second then stays at a black screen (found the "hold+" workaround on this forum.
2. Sysnand and EMunand work great on my switch (SN: XAW7001)

what can I do to get emunand to work? my friend wants to be able to play cartridge games online without ban.

Try Atmosphere instead.

Try to reinstall Emunand again. First make a backup of your SD card, then format it. Put again only the boot.dat from SX OS and install again emunand

Tell me if this works

If not, try changing the SD Card

Is there license on the unit you are trying to run emunand on?
