i have 2 nintendo switches im mainly wanting my 2nd switch to stay on a low fw for future exploits and at the same time, play the latest games. as running the emunand goes through rcm (say original nand: 4.1.0 and emunand on 6.0.0) no fuses are burnt correct?

Good question... I don't know. If I had SX OS I would test it with a 4.0 emunand (same number of fuses), to see if it will boot into emunand, and to confirm if SX emunand can be used as a replacement for autoRCM.

just tested.
im on original nand 3.0.1
and emunand 6.0.0

how i did it:

- before i created emunand i used choidujour to update to 6.0.0 (with auto-rcm and only 4 burnt fuses because im on 3.0.1)
- i used sx os to create emunand
- i booted into og nand and downgraded back to 3.0.1

I'm an SX user and I think that emunand that is not located in SD card isn't the right thing to have as having it on SD card is the main feature as theoretically it just by removing the SD card your console is clean again. There are a lot of people on here talking without proof some of them are right some are wrong but what I'm sure of is that I won't be using this emunand yet, until it supports the SD card and until we are sure that it's ban proof. I don't care about online play, all I'm concerned with is a super ban that won't allow me to update to future firmware versions and the inability to play newer games, I know there are methods to update offline but I think it depends on trusting the firmware that we find online for download. What's unfortunate is that many people were actually waiting to emunand but didn't even know what it is, they should have avoided using this version by just reading that it's on the sys memory.

Why didn't you just do it the intended way? Create emunand, boot into emunand and update to 6.0.0?

but neither of these two were/are the point of emunand . . . its function has always been brick protection . . . btw emunand has not and will never protect vs a ban even on the 3ds (where most of us got used to the term) it does nothing for a ban also the only reason emunand operated like that (reverting to a virgin system) was because nothing was installed to the system (during the rxtools hayday) and the fact that ntrboot was stored on the system tells me that hb devs have no problem using system partitions/storage/modules when available . . . im babbling but my point is you seem to want emunand to be a swis army knife sort of bandage to solve many problems emunand is to protect your console from bricks . . . not bans and not detection (in all definitions)

sorry to rant on you

Makes sense.

i unfortunately have used the emunand feature. Before I used it, I did a nand backup with hekate. Can I iron the hekate nand backup over it or do I have to delete the emunand before?

Yes you should have no problem doing the first one. (well that's if the fuse count didn't change)

so what is right now , i read through some pages here.
there seems to be no real safe way to go online still.

so what is this version of emuNAND good for, would you guys recommend i create an emuNAND.

and also , what about that new chuidojour app, should you update to the latest (6.0 was it?) with that app ? i am currently on 5.x
should i use the app to update, would it be safer to do through that app or just simply booting into the OFW and updating ?

and if i wanted to create a dump of my 5.x fw, i guess id do it through the sx menu , is that also recommended ?
i have no dumps yet.

thanks in advance!!

Right now the only"advantage" of this "emunand" is for people who are on OFW lower than 5.1 and are still hoping the lower firmwar versions get coldboot solution(or was it warmboot, i always confuse the two). With this you'l be able to leave your sysnand on a lower version and use emunand to update to a higher firmware and play the latest games if you're impatient.

You shouldn't update to 6.0 yet, stuff is still broken, especially with SX OS

You should have already made a nand dump before you even started hacking but if you're going to make one now, Hekate is recommended

No because both SysNAND and EmuNAND use the same gc slot so nogc would have to be applied to both NANDs in order to prevent it from updating.
Not if sysNAND isn't updated.
does emunand prevent the gcslot firmware update on 4.0+?
I might be wrong but I don't think SX has that feature.

Well, if sysnand (for OFW use) isn't updated, and only emunand is, then there's this:
If you dont insert a gc then SX OS will prevent card fw updates. If you insert a gc it fallbacks to original behavior which is to update the gc asic if needed.
Also seems it only does this with a legit license. If you dont have a license it will fallback again
@json is the one who made that thread dissecting SX OS' emunand at the same detail as hexkyz did (but afaik, json was first). So this info should also be reliable, but don't quote me on that. :P

Not everything. Users report certain games not working, AutoRCM not working, not being able to wake up from sleep mode and a couple more things i'm not remembering at the time. If all of these things are working for you, again, it's SUPER weird how some things work for some people but not for others
