You mean I can install a working ctcaer hekate+atmosphere modules+hb launcher on my version 5 ofw Switch? I was under the impression that stuff doesn’t work yet.
Yea that all works.

Grab files here from tumGER https://github.com/tumGER/SDFilesSwitch/releases

Use Hekate payload for LayeredFS and Hekate zip files, and Switchblade payload for the Switchblade.zip -- You only need to use one. LayeredFS is for game mods/backups. the other two are homebrew only and are pretty much the same thing with different launch payloads. Hekate has additional tools built-in.

Pretty straight forward. Pop on SD, boot into RCM, run payload with tegrasmash from rajkosto (windows) @ https://switchtools.sshnuke.net/

I see it was news to me. So the all the interest in the other solutions is because of piracy? Or because SX is not open source? I have to admit I find the Switch scene very confusing compared to the Vita where every thing is clearly spelled out with tutorials etc.
all they are doing is offering HB support for those that dont want to pirate.

those that do will get the pro, and its the pro that will get the updates, unless issues arise from its HB loader, the Pro will likely get the new features for games and possibly cheat code feature (if its ever to happen)

Maybe you guys should think about it a little bit more.
The Switch ''scene" is like 4 weeks old, why do you expect Tutorials?
Why do compare it to devices which are hacked for like AGES.
In the beginning everything is unclear and most of you guys think its just an hour of work to put on an tutorial that explain EVERYTHING.
Everything has to be developed . Everything needs time.
Damn i really cant understand how so much people can be so .. naive.
the switch scene is 1 year old.
nobody complains about the lack of tutorials- I dont say somebody has to do it.
there are already tools for backup loading....
and when 3ds was first hacked it was less then 2 months that "all in one" tutorials started to show up...

TX’s Switch CFW SX is free for use with homebrew and has been so frombthe very beginning. Apparently you only have to buy a license if you want piracy. They say so on their homepage here https://team-xecuter.com/day-d-is-here-sx-os-out-in-the-wild/.

Quote from TX website:

If you did not purchase a SX Pro or a SX OS license, Team Xecuter still provides FREE homebrew support and loading from a non activated SX OS install. This is a small gift to all 'sceners' who are only interested in homebrew. After all, Team Xecuter also comes from the homebrew scene and after all these years, we are still glad to contribute now and then to this scene who brought us where we are now.

Given that it works with all Switch firmwares including 5.x, and, according to the above, is free for all legal use, I am surprised it is not even more popular and/or listed among the free solutions in any of the threads here.
Is that people hate blindly because of reasons jejeje

SX OS provokes strong hatred because some people want piracy for free. They don't care about free homebrew and emulators.

It is great that development continues, but it would seem all the releases suffer from the same sleep mode issue on FW 3.0.X. SX OS does not have this issue. Honestly I am happy with homebrew.

How is everyone so confused about this stuff? If you are here, read the tutorials here. If you go to YouTube you will find OLD VIDEOS of methods that have not been updated. Learn to read the dates on these videos.

Idk nothing about 3.x, im on 5.1.0 and it works. Probably should be a sleep mode fix for 3.x somewhere or eventually.

Thank you all for the replies. I see it is very straightforward. The only challenge is to find the actual link to get started, which is https://github.com/tumGER/SDFilesSwitch/releases/latest . That is not obvious, because Team Reswitched, the Atmosphere release page, or any other obvious top level Switch hacking page doesn't have the link, and the name of it (tumGER/SDFilesSwitch) seems completely unrelated. Side note: For me the aluminum foil jig method was by far the easiest and most reliable.

The reason this is not highly recommended is due to personal reasons. TX will try to fix the homebrew launcher as best on their end, but not all homebrew devs are keen on tweaking their work to making it work on SX OS specifically. For example, NX-Shell has been reported to still be having trouble on SX OS v1.2. So SX OS as a homebrew tool is inferior and more like an add-on to the backup launching capabilities of their CFW.
