Hi, I recently got a new SD card with a larger size and write speed than I had previously. I turned off my Switch, backed up my SD card and then copied the contents from the old onto the new. After putting the new SD in, I can't get the Switch to power on or even make a device connected sound on my PC to check if it's in RCM still.

I've been using Atmosphere and fusee that I got from the SD Card Setup section of the Switch Homebrew Giude site like 2 years ago and have never had an issue. I stupidly wiped my old SD card before verifying that the new one worked (still have the backup on my PC though). I've tried just loading a fresh set of files from the link above onto the new SD card, still have no luck to even get my PC see my switch is connected.

I guess it's possible the USB port got fried somehow. I've tried different USB ports on my PC and 3 different cables. It turned on fine after being on the dock for a few months literally seconds before I powered down to change SD cards. I tried leaving it plugged in over night in the off chance that it lost charge somehow. I've tried holding the power button down for the 12 seconds and 30 seconds for soft and hard reset. It seems like the Switch is just dead. Please help.

Try booting ofw with the new card. Im not sure bout now but in the past, you would have to initialize the sd card before being able to boot cfw. But you should still be able to boot to hekate and other payloads that don't boot cfw

Ps by initializing, I mean just have the new card in your switch and boot normally

I can't get it to turn on with or without the new or old SD card in right now. I can't get it to send the hekate payload to the switch because my PC isn't reading that the switch is connected.

ummm...:
Did you have autoRCM on?
Do you have an android cell phone?
Does your Switch smell weird? Like, weeeiiirrrdd?
I have an android phone, the switch doesn't smell like an electrical fire. I should have had auto RCM on. It has been a long time since I hacked it originally and haven't changed anything in over a year so I'd assume so.

Try using Rekado, if not, there's another one on the play store (99% sure)to see if it reads.

Then,

Try looking through these for turning off/on autorcm...I think if its on, there's a file in Hekate that "corrupts" Switch to skip the jig.
Thanks so much! This seems to be working so far, I managed to get the Switch to load back up to OFW, now going through the process of getting the custom FW back on.

What did you do?
I think it may have been autoRCM + stuff-that-happens-when-you-update on an old SD. It's a bit of a headache, but there's another thread I'm waiting for a response to before I post what a likely fix is.

Impeeza, remember, not everyone "makes" "documents", and that's okay-ish.
