Maybe a month ago a botched installation of CFW happened to one of my buddies and the switch had a hard time powering on I had to literally hold the power button for 30 seconds for it to cut on I honestly thought it died. It wouldn't reconize RCM for almost 20 mins. So hypothetically speaking is there going to be damage to the right joycon rail for using the jig alot?
Don't take my word for it, read an expert's opinion on the matter: https://gbatemp.net/threads/psa-why-the-jigs-are-a-bad-idea.505411/

As for what happened to you friend, its too vague to make it sound like an AutoRCM issue. It sounds more like user error.

also non nintendo usb cables i think something about the power draw? cant remember the specifics

ya there are different generations of usb-c cables now (faster charging/transfer speeds) , it's too much of a risk to use non-nintendo chargers

yea wear and tear if u keep using a jig. think about how mny tie on average a person would boot from ofw to cfw. and if u take a peek at the rail connectors theyre delicate af. eventually there will be some wear and tear. also not recognising that a console is in autorcm is no excuse for slagging it off. so far its the closest thing we gonna get to an untethered boot. and remember to wash your hands and always back up your switch

My friend somehow messed up his switch so I had to restore it but considering AutoRCM was on it had hanged since the CFW wouldn't accept Exfat. (I used Haku33 to wipe everything off) he didn't have a nand backup he messed up his switch again actually and he couldn't turn it on because his son updated his switch I ended up taking off AutoRCM so he can use it again.

I think I used my jig maybe 40 times (this is probably the highest I used it) I had my switch since November I normally keep my switch in sleep mode. Personally for me if something goes wrong I cant just take out my SD card it's going to be on that blackscreen until I go into a payload and take it off.

AutoRCM doesn't affect exFAT usage and he shouldn't be using exFAT in the first place. The real issue here was never AutoRCM but exFAT. This is why the scene standard is FAT32 as it has none of the downsides to using exFAT as well as universally supported.

I personally have Exfat he wanted to do what I did because he didn't want to split his games but honestly almost all CFW now don't even accept Exfat anymore so each time I do my buddies switches I always use Fat32. I tried showing him the USB method but he didn't want to configure drivers he rather take the SD card out. He ended up now just using NSP Splitty

Some title installers also support network installation.

I use Tinfoil with the Nut Server for some reason I could never get the network insallation to work. Quark doesnt work on my computer and the other one it doesnt recognize my switch I had to play with my drivers for atleast a hour to make Tinfoil work. I was advised not to keep taking in and out my SD slot because it could lead to damage so I started using USB for gameinstallations and MTP-XServer for smaller files.

Is FTP good for games or just for little stuff I keep hearing 2 different things

I use USB install for games and nxmtp for files so I don't have to ever put Wi-Fi settings in my console.

Same here although I do have 90NDS on my switch for some reason each time I cut on the internet I get the tinfoil message to delete kosmos so I just keep it off.
