Of course it will not turn on because no cfw supports 7.0 as of now.

Well since apparently you never hacked your switch, nor intend to.
Why dont (didn't) you call Nintendo and get it fixed? Would of definitely been resolved back in November.

Never heard of a switch booting into RCM from a official update...

"Would've" or "would have". I see this "would of" far too often and it drives me nuts.

    Wrong.

"used to fix this by sending a binary/payload like hekate, and rebooting into OFW this way."

That's a hack in my book.

"Well since apparently you never hacked your switch, nor intend to."

Methinks there is much more to this story

I don't know why kids always update their SysNAND when Nintendo releases a new firmware update. (and they HAVE SXOS)
Notice how most of the people who post new threads about "Help I bricked my switch after X.X.X update" always are NEW users?
So they NEVER see the PSA's about not updating to the latest firmware yet. Doesn't TX forums warn them to not update too early?

    lol
as mentioned in the original post, i never touched CFW. the main issue is that i can't even boot into OFW.

i've been thinking of doing that, but i think my warranty has expired a while ago. i'll still give it a shot if i can't do anything.

once again, i never touched CFW nor SXOS, no clue where you're getting that from. i was updating on a clean, never hacked switch.

please try learning how to read properly, instead of pointlessly ranting or calling me a "kid".

    @SSD
7.0 breaks a lot of stuffs so I'm not surprised you're getting black screen.
You should try the new atmosphere with 7.0 support. Might help you with your issue.

    lol
Thank you for your advice. I was just about to try Atmosphere, but now I'm getting this error message:

Welcome to Atmosphère Fusée Stage 2!
    Now performing nxboot.
[ ERROR ] Fatal error: [NXBOOT]: Failed to detect target firmware!

    Press POWER to reboot.

Couldn't find anything at all about it, but it seems like I'm somehow missing my entire Stock firmware. Should make a new thread about it?

I didn't know it was gone the first time you had issues, I assumed it recently expired
