Unpatched Nintendo switch.

was shorting on m92 and p13

usb port was damaged ripped all the pads off on under side.

removed usb c port installed then installed m92 and p13. booted with a battery.
( knocked a few components around m92, but I managed to put them back)

went on to solder micro traces on port ( first time) ngl I was pleased with the result.

unsure if the inner ones are making a full connection but the console docks perfectly and I tested if there was any bridges and there isn’t.

one thing I’ve noticed and it’s why I’m here is. when charging it only charges at 0.43 amps both sides of connecter.i can sometimes charge at 0.73 amps if I fill the connector around fast.

I get 15v on my multimeter when I test the point on the forth pin??

I replaced m92 again, as I’m not a fan of my soldering on that ic, it always looks like I haven’t got enough solder onit.
But when I try and add more with a iron, I remove the resistor etc.

I reflowed bq. but it made no difference.
any advice would be appreciated

thanks.

It's quite normal charging speed when at 15v0.43A=7Watt-ish. You will have 10Watt ish when dock and joycon connected.
Not quite sure how much current are you expecting at 15volage charge

Thanks for the reply.

tbh I do my testing with a usb amp meter connected to a Xiaomi charger.

every other switch I have shows 5v 1.43 amp if the battery is charging fast.

they normally Only show 0.43 amps when the battery is depleted and is slow charging.

once the switch turns on, it boost it upto 1.43 amps

ive tested this switch with a few battery's and it still the same.

I probably wasn't clear, but with the tester it's 5v at 0.43 amp, the 15v I got was using a multimeter on the forth pin on the usb port which the official switch charger. I don't have a amp meter with a usb c in unfortunately, so I don't know then amps on a 15v supply.

Check for continuity on this choke. Does it recognize a wired controller?

There is no need for continuity on USB dataline to start the switch. But there is a good possibility that that switch is in auto rcm. I had quite some switches with broken Port and bad M92t36 that where used in auto rcm. Some of them were banned.

So check the usbline filter for continuity and inject a payload (I use hekate) and check in tools for auto rcm.

For me 0,45A at 15volts is normal charging if the switch ist turned off. While working with out joycons the switch draws around 0,7A with joycons charging its 0,9to1A at 15volts.

His switch is starting just not going to fast charge on a 5v charger. Open data lines are one possibility.

PD FAST CHARGING does not require datalines though, I've seen few MB with open dataline but still can charge with PD charger at 15v
agreed. even with open data lines you will still get pd fast charge. what I've experienced with open data lines is wired controller will not work, no 5v fast charge, & excessive battery drain.

I was the original poster for this question and I think your right.

if I don't have a reading in diode mode on that filter or the data lines on the usb c port. i can enter rcm on some switches and wired usb accessories don't work.

i even think via a pc. the switch will say unable to charge.

i think this stems from a faulty usb c port port. sending voltage to the data lines on when a pin is bent.

it's annoying when the switch is unpatched I won't lie.

thanks for the response, I do appreciate it. my questions just get lost sometimes.

thanks
