Hacking Switch on 6.0 OFW, but RCM not working

Why do people let such misinformation go uncorrected?

I started seeing patched switches at a retail level nearly 3 months ago. I would imagine just about every single switch sold retail is now patched. I had a hell of a time finding a unpatched one 2 months ago.

Sounds like OP is not informed very well and doesn't bother to check serials before buying.

OP should realize he needs to buy a used one off CL/eBay and verify serial first before buying.

Ipatched units=/Mariko Units. Don't confuse the two. Ipatched wont let you run payloads but you can still enter RCM. Mariko units come with a brand NEW board that no longer has the tegra vulnerability, thus you can no longer enter RCM. Those are not out YET

Seems that you have an ipatched unit, anyways the RCM mode ON should appear on TegraRcmGUI, the patch prevent the load of payloads, but should enter on RCM mode anyways.

For now, we didn't know how to run payloads on this units, probably need discover another bootrom exploit to achieve it.

I bought a new switch and it was on 4.1 so I needed to update it. So I did to 6.0.0. After this I downloaded os 1.9 and switch homebrew archieve and try to boot it into RCM, but it was not able to enter SX menu. Can somehow please advise me what to do?

check your serial number against these, probably the issue

Yes i know. But notice how the comment i was replying to said" Units patched for RCM". That isn't a thing YET, hence why i mentioned the Mariko units

The update prompt when you insert your SD Card it's to add the exFat support, isn't a main firmware update, just a patch.

If you don't like update and use your SD Card, you can format it to Fat32 but have minor performance of speed than exFat.

Always the first thing it's make a full nand backup and extract all things like biskeys, but if you say that you can't run any payload you can't do it, no way to do nothing without run payloads.

Make sure that you are following the guides fine, you installed the correct APX driver, etc etc... an ipatched unit should at least show the RCM mode ON, just prevent the payload execution.

And yes, this is a confusing scenario as I've seen endless people juxtapose both these scenarios. I cannot keep track of reality when the general community is so confused on this issue. I had thought Mariko was a completely new hardware revision that has yet to be released, but then I saw a dev (cant remember who) a few months ago refer to the new ipatched units as Mariko. I've been confused ever since

That dev was wrong. Mariko is exactly that, a completely new board that doesn't have the same tegra vulnerability the current ones have, meaning that you can't enter RCM period. The ipatched ones still let you enter RCM, they just block payload loading(basically they throw an error when you try to load a payload and reboot back to OFW)

Got me an ipatched one as well ... ah well time will tell if these babies can be hacked.
On a sidenote ... Im not mad about my new one being ipatched.
Only downside is I can not transfer my savedate over

Do you have a official source for this info? AFAIK this is internal design that would not be disclosed publicly and so therefore we could only know this information if a engineer mole was inside nintendo and leaking info to us.

It's on reddit. Basically when analyzing the 5.0.0 OFW, people found that it adds support for a new SoC code named Mariko. Everything from there is kind of speculation but it's speculation that makes sense. I don't know if more concrete info is available but if it is, it should be on redit

RCM is not a vulnerability. It is by design. Fusee Gelee is a vulnerability.

No i did not. I said the vulnerability lies in the tegra boards, which is what allows users to enter RCM, never did i say or even imply that RCM itself was a vulnerability
Also i'm VERY sure that Fusée Gelée is an EXPLOIT, not a VULNERABILITY

Dont tell people they cant get into RCM on ipatched unit. This is false. Just cant launch a payload.
