If you want to play online with sysMMC, it will need to be on the latest firmware. However, that normally involves burning fuses. If you wish to update to the latest firmware without burning fuses, you have 3 options which I will list in decreasing risk from highest to lowest:
    1. Using the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX. This requires CFW and homebrew making it the most unsafe method of updating your firmware without burning fuses
    2. Installing a system update with AutoRCM enabled while running CFW. This method only requires the use of CFW which makes it less risky from a banning perspective compared to ChoiDujourNX but still presents a certain risk. What I personally do is boot into Hekate's Stock mode and download the system update but I do not install it. Then I remove the Wi-Fi settings and reboot into CFW. Finally, while making sure AutoRCM is enabled and I am in CFW, I install the system update. Modern CFW now prevent AutoRCM from being removed during system updates which is why this method works
    3. Rebooting manually into RCM after installing a system update and enabling AutoRCM. This method is extremely risky as it relies on the success rate of your jig at shorting pin 10 and subsequently booting into RCM. If your jig fails even once, you will burn fuses which is why this method is not recommended however it is the safest method from a banning perspective. If you wish to try this method, you can find a more detailed tutorial here

A factory reset does not change the Switch system version. If you've already burnt fuses by booting the system normally, you cannot downgrade. If your system is unpatched, you can hack it regardless of the system version.

I think i will go with option 2. Just A few questions.

    1. Once i update sysMMC, using system settings and are on latest firmware, do i keep using the CFW or Hekate's Stock mode for online play?

2.Can i make a EmuMMC after updating my sysMMC instead of before? Then i wouldn't need to update EmuMMC with ChoiDujourNX...would i run to any issues this way?

    1. Use Hekate's stock option for online play.
    2. Yes, this is fine.

    Hi

    I have a Problem:

I can get into rcm just fine and did Backups of NAND etc. But when i boot atmosphere via hekate i first see the atmhosphere logo then this white logo which follows. But then the screen just stay blank. Also doesnt work with fusee.

Using atmosphere 0.9.2 on fw 8.1.0. RCM is exploitable on my Switch.

    Can you help me?

    Thanks

I have an unpatched Switch with CFW on 7.0.1 updated from 4.1 without burning fuses. I backed it up prior to doing any hanky panky, and it’s been offline since then.

I’d like to have a clean NAND with a CFW emuNAND.

Is there a way to move my present CFW NAND to the emuNAND, or do I basically have to just erase everything and start over?

No problem. Just create emunand as usual; it will make a copy of your current configuration. Then restore your nand backup to sysnand. Remember that if your nand backup does not have the exFat driver and your sd card is exFat, you will need to use a fat32 formatted card temporarily to get the exFat driver.

So recently I installed CFW on emuMMC to keep my clean sysMMC, and everything seems to work fine. But now I realized that my SD card is getting recognized as two different storage devices, E: and F:. Is that how it should be or did I mess something up?

Use one of these methods to enter RCM. The homemade options are likely going to take several tries. I personally recommend the paperclip option for ease of use, since a correctly sized paperclip is going to fit just right. If you can't get any of the homemade options to work, purchase a cheap jig online.

Is your SD card formatted as FAT32 or exFAT? If it's exFAT, you're going to get this problem without exFAT support installed on your Switch. I recommend formatting your SD card as FAT32 if it isn't already.

Yes. Make the emuNAND now using your dirty sysNAND (which will be copied to the emuNAND). After the emuNAND has been created, restore your clean NAND backup to your sysNAND.

This is normal because you have two separate partitions on the SD card (one for regular storage and one for the emuNAND).

Question about AutoRCM: How do I enable it in Hekate / Nyx version 5?

Have 8.1.0 with latest Kosmos/Atmosphere, emuMMC enabled and setup was done following the guide @ scenefolks which didn't mention how/where to enable it.

The only option i found in Nyx was under Tools > AutoBoot, which is on but i think that just automatically launches the CFW option

Your emuNAND partition should be left alone.

Are you using an 8.1.0 sysNAND, or are you using an 8.1.0 emuNAND with an ipatched system? You cannot install AutoRCM on an ipatched system.

I am not sure if its iPatched... I bought a used one that was updated to FW 8.1.0 and serial # starts with XAW7-000852...

For launch option, i am selecting 'CFW (emuMMC)'

Your system is unpatched. Have you tried using Hekate without Nyx? I don't have a lot of experience with Nyx (none), but the AutoRCM options should be under Tools. We aren't talking about launch options.

Remove the Nyx file from your SD card or boot into Hekate without your SD card.
