That's what i did. Daybreak couldn't even find the folder. So i put this folder on a new one and it was detected but still say there's no update found in that folder
That's strange! Did you try to just rename the folder to something different. For me, just putting the folder in the root directory works. Try sd_root/Newfirmware (maybe daybreak doesn't like folder named with numbers only)

I usually name my folder "firmware" just in case and it always works. I updated yesterday and it went fine.
If that doesn't work, maybe redownload the firmware, there may have been a corrupt file. Also, I would download daybreak again and replace it (you could take it from the latest Atmosphere files).

Do you use a Mac? I had issues when I tried to update with Daybreak because Mac adds ._ files that cause problems. You can use this command in the terminal to remove the ._ files:
Code:
dot_clean -m path/to/directory

I'd also very much recommend Blue Harvest. It's a huge pain Apple wouldn't let you disable polluting everything it touches with these files. If you run samba, also set

fruit:veto_appledouble = yes

I want to backup only the required files in case something happens. Is eMMC BOOT0 & BOOT1 enough or is there more?

Just grab the entire thing. You could probably frankenstein a NAND out of a donor one, your CAL0/prodinfo and BOOT0/BOOT1, but why would you over having to backup a whopping 64GB at most.

Thanks! I tried again today on another pc and it worked fine so that was probably my issue but i couldn't find any information about it. I'll try that next time i have to update anyway.

Is it possible to install games from an external HDD plugged on Switch with a USB cable? Can Tinfoil or any other up to date installer do it?

Glad it worked out! Yes, it took me a while to find the issue.
I now only use Mac to install games with DBI MTP.

Hey,

I'm trying to run LA Noire on CFW. I recently updated the firmware (to 18 IIRC) to be able to play Sonic x Shadow Generations which is a far newer game.

When I install and try to run Noire V0, the system nags about needing a software update (and gives no way to bypass it). When I install the LA Noire update and try to run that, I get a corrupted data error.

Any ideas? Thanks

You must install the correct game update that has the same TID as your game does (Ex: EUR or USA version). I would also suggest installing Sys-Patch files to your SD card then restart Switch.

Why I can't launch hbmenu in application mode without any title installed? I mean why don't we have an option in config to launch hbmenu in app mode by default? Is there some reason that prevents this?

Its because of how the Nintendo Switch operates. Only games are allowed access to the full RAM. The only other way would be to install the homebrew menu as an .NSP file however the teams behind the homebrew menu and Atmosphere do not believe in supporting or installing .NSP files. So the short answer is politics.

Got it! Can I read more about it somewhere, how it works on technical side? I couldn't find it in atmosphere's docs. Or do I need to study the source code of homebrew apps etc?

Hey! I have an unmodded Switch. All I would like to do is get access to my save files (I know I need JKSM for that). Don’t want to do anything that would put me at ban risk if possible (but understand that comes with the territory). The links to guides seem to be either taken down or outdated. Do y’all have a recommendation for what I should do when my only goal in modding my switch is getting some save file data? Thank you!

You are doing it wrong you are suppose to convert it to file based, move it to new sd, then change it back to hidden.
