Hi, Based on the screenshot attached: If I use Custom Firmware (CFW) on my Switch will my game progress and saves transfer over to the stock (unmodified) system? In other words, will changes made in CFW reflect on the stock firmware, or are the two completely independent of each other (i.e., any progress or saves made in CFW won't affect the stock system)?
CFW is just a mode. When you are launching CFW or stock, you are still launching the same console. You might be mistaking CFW for emuMMC which will result in launching a different "console" that exists solely on the SD card.

I have just Modded my Switch lite sucsessfully and have backed up my Sys nand and created the emunand.

When trying to install TINFOIL i get the "could not start the software. Please try again from the home menu.

My current system firmware is 18.1.0 at the time of writing this as was not sure whether i needed to update further.

I have tried using diffrent downloads with supposed sigpaches and copied them over to the root and replaced files multiple times,
however im getting nowhere with this.

If anyone needs any info on my switch for versions of whatever please just ask and if ur able to link me EXACTLY what i need or if i should even format the sd card and start again then
do tell.

Thanks alot in advance.
No one uses that software anymore. I highly recommend switching to TinWoo Installer instead. Its what I personally use and never have any issues while using it. I've even helped other users switch to this homebrew app.
it worked!! thank you sooo much! <3

I need help setting up a switch emulator on my pc (better graphics). I own a switch and the games, however i just want to download the emulator and the keys/firmware from the internet to save time and i don't want to modify my switch (seems complicated and time consuming). For the prod.keys and title.keys I found a website called prodkeys, is it safe and the place where people get theirs from? also should i get the latest firmware and yuzu?

Download the latest patch/update to your PC from one of the trusted websites and install it via DBI or TinWoo Installer? How do you usually install patches/updates?

Then you are out of luck as you cannot patch games on the Mig Switch. Either you have to hope that there is a retail cartridge dump of the game you want with the DLC/update pre-patched or go on without it.

You can just pirate it on emuMMC or if you're really religious, dump it from your sysMMC to install it on emuMMC.

The only way I know of requires you to have another console, preferably modded, that has the same game you'd like to update on the version you'd like to update to. You can match the game versions locally between two Switches, therefore updating the version on your Switch that uses MIG Switch flashcart without connecting to the Nintendo servers. However before you do that make sure that you have 90DNS set up as you'll need to turn on WiFi in order to initiate local connection with another Switch.

However, there might be a problem: If you're using incomplete dumps and staying offline all the time hoping to evade ban, you're probably just delaying the inevitable. Complete/Full dumps should be fine to update this way, but I'm not sure if the publicly available dumps are safe to use and therefore avoid getting banned. It should be fine to use shared dumps between a small group of people that you share your own dumps with.

WOW. Thanks guys for finding time and patience for such of detailed explanation.
Appreciated.

Hi guys. I'm currently on OFW 19.0.0/ATMS 1.8.0. Everything seems to be working. My Switch model is XAJ7002XXXXXXX.

My question is: I'm still using the old Xecutor dongle and jig, do I still need to be? At the minute I put the dongle and jig in, hold down vol up & power to turn on, select payload/fusee to boot. Is this still the way it's done? Or can I sack off the Xecutor bits?

Unless you have a modchip or some other way to boot into CFW, jig and dongle is still a viable method. If you have an Android phone with USB OTG support, you can use Rekado instead, but I'd say that having a small dongle i.e. dedicated device to push a payload is worth keeping around. I wish I had one myself. ^^

Cool, thanks. I wasn't sure if we'd moved on from the need of additional hardware, but I guess that's not the case! :)

Hi all,

I'm looking for a homebrew that allows you to capture the Switch screen, even with a Tesla menu open, and then share that screen capture.

Thank you for your help

Regards.

Just use the capture button on the left joy-con, then use the Send to Smart Device option in the Album under Posting and Editing to get a QR code, then share it from there. That sounds like the safest way. There is homebrew but I've never used it and can't comment on how safe it is to connect to wifi and share when on emuMMC. I also don't know if they even work on current FW/CFW.

I plan on buying an oled switch that has been used then modding it with the mod chip. Is there anything to look out for when buying the switch besides if its banned or if the game reader works?

Also for after modding the switch, I got a little confused after reading the guides, would I get banned for playing for example ssbu with dlcs online without having the gamecard?

I apologize if these questions are a bit dumb just a little confused on these parts.

Functionality-wise, as long as everything works and console isn't banned, you should be good to go.

If you're playing pirated content on the official servers, yes. If you're playing a legit digital copy with all DLCs, no. You'll need a digital version of the game from their eShop if that's the case.
There's even a Switch LAN play, but I haven't tried it yet. Read up on that and see if that's something you're looking for.

In any case, connecting to the Nintendo servers while having a pirated content installed on your Switch will result in a ban as soon as telemetry gets sent.
I'd stick to playing legit games online on a clean sysNAND while playing pirated content on the emuNAND with DNS MITM or 90DNS in place. You can still play multiplayer locally with other Switches even if you're blocking Nintendo servers. Or you can check Switch LAN play and see what that is about.

Hi everyone,

I'm extremely annoyed.

I always have my switch in flight mode. Like, always. It was on 1.7.1 (sys firmware 18.0) and everything was EXCELLENT. I temporarily enabled WiFi because I was testing some 60fps patches with FPSLocker and it was all good. Everything was good. Had the 60fps patch working and everything.

And then I opened a game and it came up with a software update notification. So stupid me, I said "yeah go ahead, update the game".

NO NO NO NO NO

It was a system software update (19.0.1) not a game software update. FUCK.

The switch rebooted and now NOTHING WORKS. I copied over the new Hekate 6.2.2 and atmosphere 1.8.0-pre or whatever, I copied over sys-patch 1.5.4. I can get into Hekate, I select CFW and I get a lovely BLACK SCREEN. FUCK. FUCK. FUCK.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as, right now, I hate my life and want to smash something.

EDIT: also lost the ability to downgrade. BIG SAD. I was updated to 18.0 with Daybreak and had all my fuses intact, now they are all dead. SO very sad.

Calm down, it's not the end of the world if you update your Switch. Since you've already connected to the Nintendo servers in order to download firmware update and burned the fuses, there's no point in restoring an older NAND backup in case you wanted to do that. Restoring a previously made clean NAND backup is only safe if you don't connect to the Nintendo servers after you make the NAND backup. Otherwise, you'll cause log mismatch between your console and the Nintendo servers, which will get your console banned (eventually, at the very best).

I'd suggest a fresh install of the Atmosphere and Hekate to see if it works properly after that. To do this, power off and remove the SD card (or use Hekate's USB tools), connect it to the PC and make a backup of the atmosphere and bootloader folders first before removing them. After that, place a fresh copy of the latest Atmosphere, Hekate and sys-patch onto your SD card.

I'm not sure what you have in your hekate_ipl.ini file, located in bootloader folder, but you can use the template from this sigpatches ZIP archive. Since you'll be using sys-patch, make sure to remove any kip1patch=nosigchk line from your hekate_ipl.ini file as you don't need that.

If everything works after that, you can update the firmware to the latest via Daybreak (or officially, if your console is already banned) and start adding back your sys-modules (make sure to get the latest versions while you're at it). Regardless of whether your console is banned or not, make sure to setup 90DNS or DNS MITM in order to prevent accidental firmware updates in the future. Note that you'll loose access to the Nintendo servers and its services if you were using them on your sysNAND. To be honest, I'm not sure how you're using your Switch in a first place? sysNAND CFW? No 90DNS or DNS MITM? Banned console?

So after yesterday's post, apparently everything is not running properly. For some reason I can't install XCI files now. I've tried converting them to NSP using 4NXCI but that doesn't fix it, I still get the same problem. DBI will install it, but on the dashboard it's just a spinning white circle and a "Could not start the software" error.

Running OFW 19.0.0 and AMS 1.8.0, latest beta sigpatches and latest fusee.

Sorry that all happened, but those notices specifically say SYSTEM software. I'm also curious as to why one would connect to N's servers to update a pirated game.
