If you would have read the OP, it says, that your switch is probably patched. But definitely not every switch with that serial is patched according to collected data. Try it out, it's worth it. Actually, then you know for sure if should stay on <=4.1.0 for deja vu (once it released), as you need deja vu, if fusee-gelee is not an option. Good luck, and remember to tell us whether it was patched or not (for statistics).

According to the OP, its patched. Even if its past the range of patched Switches, there's no way it would miraculously go back to being unpatched; that's not how the production lines operate.
No, according to OP it's a maybe. There have been XAW1009 units not patched. 1008 is grey area.
While the XAW1008 series are a grey area, his serial number is extremely close to the XAW1009 series. I've seen plenty of lower serial numbers be patched so if his turns out to be unpatched, I'll be a monkey's uncle. However I think the risk is too much to take given everything I just said. I'd only test it if there was a guarantee I could return, swap, or get my money back from it.

Thanks for the response and yeah I hope his switch is unpatched since it was given as a gift. It came on firmware 4.1.0 but he had to update to link his nnid. I guess we'll find out if his switch is hackable way into the future
