Patched with the RCM exploit? I don't get it why would some be patched and some not but still not be on the 5.xx version? Wouldn't hardware patched ones be newer?

The bootrom where the exploit is triggered can be patched at the factory before its distributed. It cannot really be modified after it leaves because the bootrom is read-only. The 5.X firmwares on the other hand have the software-based exploit patched (or at least parts of it). They also have code embedded in the firmware for a new SoC that doesn't have this RCM exploit to begin with but these consoles have yet to appear. Probably because it would be easier to patch current units in production than start production on a Switch with a new SoC.

It's weird because it's a second handed console (barely used) I'm planning to buy, and according to the owner, it's from a splatoon pack and came with 5.0 firmware.
And according to the first page, it should be from a Mario odyssey pack and the original firmware be 3.0.1

guys help i might have screwed things up i succesfully launched fusee geelee then i pressed the power button to exit out of it and now i have a purple screen.

Okay i restarted it everything seems to be in order. wheew but how do u exit without causing this ?

Yes, they should be ok, but remember to check the serial before buying, through the hole in the box. XAW1008 or higher, don't touch. XAW1007 or lower, BUY!

erm XAJ70016... is perfectly fine, actually it is pretty old!
Got one of those from Amazon, see above, comes with 3.0.1 and is manufactured 2017.

Strange. I have:

- XAJ400109, grey and few months after launch. came with 4.1
- XAJ400521, neon and bought yesterday. came with 4.1 too

Both are exploitable and both time im lucky, no pixel errors. Usually I have them on every display I buy
Think XAJ700xxx is the newer stuff. Dunno how 3.0.1 can be on it.

So if my serial is XAW7001576xxxx would that be unpatched? XAW7006xxxxxxx? I see many with 1007? It is a 4.1.0 FW.

Also if it is patched does that mean it is unhackable? I thought they said that all Switches can be hacked that have the RCM pins and that the unhackable ones aren't out yet.

You're right! All of this lower firmware hunting would be irrelevant tomorrow if the 4.1 hack (déjà vu?) was released. Who knows, it could happen!

My switch came on 4.1 and stupid me updated before going onto gbatemp and checking what was going on, but at least I lucked in and got one with fusee gelee working.

Does Amazon allow you to send back items after opening? If so, test it out first because you might be in luck.
