5.0.2 out of the box? Is it a used unit? Pretty Scary that 5.0.2 firmware is out.

The serial doesn't match. There are two possibilties:

1. @HeldDerZeit typed a zero too much.
2. The Switch was updated and then returned to the shop

So judging by comments, if I wanna get a Switch before they release a hardware revision, it's cool to just get one brand new currently rather than hunting around for a preowned low version?

Yeah, if you get a switch now it should be the original hw revision. But get one as soon as possible as you never know when they will change it.

Yes, there is no way that Nintendo releases a patched hardware revison that quickly. Even firmware update can take one to two month before they arrive in the shops.

Quickly? Didn't Kate say that the bootrom exploits were disclosed to nVidia months ago? How long do they need to push out a new hardware revision?

At the moment you start seeing a 5.0 probably it will be the hardware rev so hurry if you want the have the bug

Joe, do you mind taking a look at the back of your system and say what code it says (Not serial) but a code that starts with "Hac" And not the hac-001 code. Systems that end with "c0" have motherboards with the code "hac-cpu-01". Systems with the code ending in "c1" have the motherboard with code "hac-cpu-10". If yours ends in "c2" it may indicate a newer revision inside. Possibly the mariko version.
