Hi my friend has a switch with xaj4 serial which is on yellow but it was hackable and he hacked it, i found a switch in shop which is has a lower serial number than his, does that mean that it will be hackable ? Does the serial number follow chronological order? or is it still uncertain? Shop is pretty sketchy about returns , thanks much

Q: My Serial is in the orange region, which says that it is possibly patched, what does that mean for me?
A: This means that it is not possible to tell from your serials number if your Switch is patched or not. It has
to do with the fact that after patched units were first produced, Nintendo also produced unpatched units. That
leads to an overlap.

I don't know if it is the best kept secret or what but over the years I have purchased multiple refurbished 3DS's, 2DS's, and even a Wii U directly from Nintendo's refurbished online store and they were all on very low firmware during a time when new units shipped with much higher firmware.

Last year I purchased a refurbished Switch directly from Nintendo's refurbished online store and it is NOT patched. I use SX OS on it since Day 1 of owning it. Serial is XAW94200******

I get why everyone just assumes Nintendo installs the latest firmware or patches to these refurbished units since they typically would install the latest firmware if you send them your unit for repair. But in my experience with purchasing multiple refurbished units directly from them over the years, those units have always shipped with much lower firmware than new units do. Since my refurbished Switch unit was purchased last summer, it is possible that the unpatched refurbished units could be depleted by now. So you'll have to decide if it is worth gambling or not. I just wanted to share my experiences with you guys.

Yes if you sell the patched screen and replace it with an unpatched screen, all the other accessories like joycons, dock, power, will all work fine.

I got this one recently and it is in the green zone. It was new but had a damaged box so was passed over. They were nice enough to let me check all the serial numbers. There were others in the Orange zone but got this one because it was in the green. I will get getting my RCM Jig in the mail to check that Fusée Gelée works soon and will update my post.
