I just got my switch and it has XAW10103 and i thought that i was definitely patch but when i did the check i got 0x7000 and all the different bis keys and the little qr code came up. So question here is did i get super lucky or something?

4.1 and that serial number seem odd. Are you sure GameStop didn't sell you a refurbed (by Nintendo) unit, lol? Well you got lucky for sure, these things are almost all patched. Maybe its some old rando stock that got reboxed and repackaged.

hi guys,

i have a bit of a dilemma here :/ i have a switch, which is not patched! however, am i correct in saying if i go down the jailbreak route i cannot play games online because nintendo will ban the console? is there an alternative to play games online via different servers? or is it a case of playing games offline and thats it?

it's for my sons xmas and i dont want to take this option away if he decides to play online with friends (hes only 7) i guess there is no way to do both is there? and pay for the games he decides to play online.

also, i have mario kart 8 and tried to register a new account on the switch but its asking me to do a system update. is there a way to avoid this and still register? i am currently on 4.0.1 what do you guys think?

That's not the section you should be looking at. You refer to the TL;DR section as seen below:

XAW1007800X and below are safe to buy
XAW1007900X and above not safe to buy, possibly patched
XAW1010000X and above definitely patched
