Nintendo's firmware 3.0 has opened a door to experience Switch games with controllers that were previously said only usable for a single game and that in itself is a brilliant move. Now, below I'll include a list of games I've tested the Pokkén controller with. I can't say which games work and don't with the GameCube as I've yet to receive the adapter (well, at least one - Puyo Puyo Tetris).

    Pokkén Controller
    • Mario Kart 8: Deluxe - Playable
    • Disgaea 5: Complete - Playable
    • Puyo Puyo Tetris - Playable
    • Master Blaster Zero - Playable
    • Spelunker World - Playable
    • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Unplayable (Reason: You can only change the weapons, no movement)
    • Dragon Quest I & II - Unplayable (Reason: Character does nothing when you touch the d-pad)
    • Super Bomberman R - Playable

    GameCube Controller
    • Puyo Puyo Tetris - Playable

Puyo Puyo Tetris is said to work without any issues with the GameCube controller so that's the first to be added and Bomberman R for Pokkén's list as it's a semi-retro that utilises the d-pad for movement and buttons for actions.

    The real question is:
Can we play 1-2 Switch with the Gamecube controller?
You know, like a melee pro

    - PS3
    - 360
    - Gioteck GC-2 (Wii/WiiU Mode)

None of them worked but I'm sure there's controllers out there that are compatible, just not very well known.

Just straight via the Switch Dock. If via the Mayflash it'd require a USB to GC port converter (not sure it exists or works properly).

Mayflash has other pc adapters, so I wonder if those all work

Oh. I was forgetting about that.

I don't have any of those and only have the GameCube adapter coming so won't be able to test them via one of those other PC adapters. I'd guess that via Mayflash they can work but not without.

For the record, the Cube controller should have the same compatibility as the Pokken controller, since they recognised the same. As such, the Cube controller's analogue stick is detected as a D-Pad. Hopefully they change that in future.

Maybe the switch will recognize all USB controllers that use DINPUT (or XInput, I guess). That's why it recognizes the Pokken controller and mayflash adapters, but not the PS3 and Xbox 360 controllers

Its gotta be DINPUT only if Xbox 360/One controllers don't work...

Side Note, my SFXT Fight Stick works with Street Fighter, and all the ACA Neo Geo games

That's good to know, but it also means we may not ever have Xbox support.

Does the fight stick recognize as an analog or a d-pad?

If you have Zelda or another game that uses the analog stick to move, try it,

Just tried in Zelda, Left stick mode still thinks its a dpad, Right Stick mode does nothing

Okay, Maybe the switch requires the controller to have a certain amount of inputs before allowing it to have analog inputs.

Mayflash? I got some USB adapters for Christmas (to use with RetroPie) and the Mayflash one was the worst, refusing to work with known good 1st party Genesis controllers. Tommo (nes, snes) on the other hand worked great whether 1st or weird 3rd party stuff.

What makes the mayflash adapter work is that it can emulate a Pokken controller. It was a complete accident. I'm hoping mayflash realeases a firmware update where it can emulate a Pro Controller connected via USB, since the new Switch update now allows that.
