Switch firmware version 19.0.0 released, breaks compatibility with Atmosphere

swithchchchc.png

A brand new system software update has been released. Nintendo has just put out a milestone firmware release for the Nintendo Switch, bringing the OFW to 19.0.0. Despite the version number, it seems that this new update is purely focused on stability. That means support for custom firmware Atmosphere has been broken for now, with SciresM planning on fixing things in the next few days.

this is version 19 and people are still surprised that update breaks atmos? 😂😂😂
Who is surprised? You shouldn't be surprise you have that urge to press the A button to get it going. Unnecessary A button press has been around for as long as unnecessary click of the mouse.

What would happen if Michael decided to spend time with a beautiful girlfriend in a cabin away from society for a few months without connecting to the internet and without knowing that updates existed, how long would people hold their breath without its atmosphere?
Did you have a stroke? I'm sure you really had a stroke.

To those who's fingers are oh so itchy for that A button. You may want to hold you horses. It's never about Atmosphere not getting updated. It's the pain you may have after it did, when you hold you breath for your favorite homebrew to get updated and it may not receive any attention.

I will probably wait until there is a real need for HOS19

I was fortunate and actually able to downgrade back to 18.0.0. I just got my Switch the other day and, after doing as much as I could, I had to wait for my joy cons to arrive to actually get past the "attach joy cons" screen. One I got them, I spent about 2 hours getting everything in the system handled so I could use it. Everything I was reading seemed to reflect that 18.1 was the newest firmware and was compatible so, after getting everything in order, I updated... not knowing Nintendo had just released 19. Fortunately, when my system rebooted after the update, it didn't fully reboot and instead booted back to Hekate, but wouldn't run Atmosphere. I checked my fuses and it hadn't fried the 20th because it never fully rebooted. I took my 18.0 NAND backup I made as part of my initial set up and restored it and turned on AutoRCM. And now I'm back running on 18.0.0 with Atmosphere.

you just need to setup a host file to reroute traffic away from Nintendo server

Depends on your setup.

Like V1s will lose RCM if you updated sysnand without CFW but you can RCM back and enable RCM again.

If you use pico/hwfly chips, it should be fine as they're separated.

How did you do It ?
First I made a small emunand that is about 1GB instead of 32GB version (old 11.0 firmware). I renamed my regular emunand to a backup and copied the small emunand to the sdcard. Then I booted into my clean 11.0 emunand and updated it from Ninty servers. Next copy the updated emunand to the PC and use "HacDiskMount" to mount the system partition and extract the registered folder. Use IPS patch creator to find FW/ES/NFIM nca's for 11.0 firmware and remove those from nca's from the registered folder. Now you will be left with FW/ES/NFIM nca's for the new firmware. Next use IPS patch creator Keygen feature to get the new keys set for decrypting and finding the new NCA's to patch. ES/NFIM patches were ok, FW routine wild card changed so opened the decrypted main file with IDA pro to find new offsets and then looked at the hex code at that address to make a new wildcard pattern.

That's about it.

Welp, was modding Zelda and accidentally hit the update button instead of starting the software. RIP Switch until the new updates are out. OFW doesn't boot, probably because of Hekate, and I never use emuMMC so it's got no updates and constant errors, supposedly because of blank prodinfo and Exosphere blocking.

Guess I'll do something more productive in the interim.
I wish Nintendo wouldn't default to selecting the damn update button, or better yet, don't download the update at all when I turn off automatic updates...
