Switch firmware version 19.0.0 released, breaks compatibility with Atmosphere

swithchchchc.png

A brand new system software update has been released. Nintendo has just put out a milestone firmware release for the Nintendo Switch, bringing the OFW to 19.0.0. Despite the version number, it seems that this new update is purely focused on stability. That means support for custom firmware Atmosphere has been broken for now, with SciresM planning on fixing things in the next few days.

as long as you don't use game card in emunand there had never been problem for as long as I know. Enable game card have cause crash before. Anyway why would you choose to trust what I said? Is it because you are already pre-disposed to want to update?

Well im not in any rush to update
I will wait a few weeks till everyone else updates.

I just wanted to play super mario maker 2 online with the various levels etc
Without breaking my switch entirely
So i will trust what you said lol

The switch will not let me play the mario maker game when i go into the game and click on course world
It says that a system update is required
Please perform a system update

in the pre-releases that I found there is no hbmenu.nro. I can start atmospheres correctly on fw 19.0.0 but I wanted to use daybreak on Emuemmc to go back to 18.1.0 which is fully supported and use the full stock for OFW. can't you use hbmenu on the pre-release? if I use hbmenu of the previous version it crashes atmospheres (and it seems right to me)

Hi everyone,

I’m completely new to the Nintendo Switch and Atmosphere, and I’m just starting to learn about custom firmware (CFW). I’d like to clarify something: if I update my Switch’s stock firmware, will that affect the CFW that’s already installed on my system/SD card?

Thanks for your help! EDIT: My switch is the first model.

Sorry, I'm still very new to the terminology. Is "emunand" the left option (emummc) in the attached photo? If I update the right option (stock), will that not cause any problems for sys CFW and emummc?

Yes, to your first question. EmuNAND is the same as emuMMC. For your second question, it depends if your bootloader supports 19.0.0 . In this case, if you're using the latest Hekate, the answer is yes. Hekate was updated 2 days ago to support 19.0.0 . Make sure you update your Hekate files to the latest first and then you can update your sysNAND to 19.0.0 . Remember that that you still cannot update your emuMMC until Atmosphere gets updated. Also, you won't be able to run CWF on your sysNAND until Atmosphere gets updated, but you shouldn't be doing that anyway, outside of very specific circumstances.

From my understanding, I can run Atmosphere with the latest Hekate even if Atmosphere itself is outdated, since Hekate serves as a bootloader that enables me to boot into Atmosphere, correct? In my situation, as long as I don't update to the latest stock firmware, I should be able to use both my sysCFW and emuMMC without issues. However, if I update my stock firmware before updating Hekate and Atmosphere, I risk encountering problems.
