I don't know if this will be very helpful, but my first switch got a corrupted nand (according to Nintendo). it was still under warranty, so I got a replacement for it. anyway, the nintendo logo would sometimes come on, then other times, no response. at first, I thought it was a faulty battery or the dock wasn't charging it. what happened before that was coming back from sleep mode, I was presented with a message "a serious error has occurred." then, the system would no longer turn on. Nintendo said that since the nand got corrupted they were unable to salvage my saves. it almost made me not want to deal with the switch anymore. however, I had the switch plugged into an extension cable, and when I unplugged it, all three prongs fell out. I don't know if that caused some sort of surge or not. now, I have 3 switches with 148 legit games (digital only), and I've had no problems with any of them. it was probably a fluke or some sort of surge based on that thing that happened with the extension cable. I threw the extension cable away, and now my switches are plugged in directly.

Extension cables are pretty simple devices so I don't really see how they could cause a surge. Probably some random freak accident. Sometimes hardware is just faulty from the factory. It's rare but it happens.

I am a frequent watcher of My Mate Vince, TronixFix and the Cod3r. They all provide very helpful material. I also thought about shipping it to one of them, unfortunately I haven't received a reply from Cod3r yet. But I actually still would like to try taking more stuff off the board till the short clears, if it does at all.

NAND is fine, I still was able to to some benchmark tests with hekate. Even without NAND at least linux should work, but it freezes as described ealier. There were also some hints with error messages when booting up Linux, the screenshots all can be found in my post at tronixfixforum.

Charging also works well, even fast charging.

As I also said earlier, I had several attemps with trying to downgrade which all ended up with the same error, black screen after Nintendo Logo. Number of burnt fuses should't be an issue here as CFW works around those chekups.

I highly doubt it is a software or NAND issue. As there is the short on the critical rail, all points towards hardware culprit.

I am pretty busy atm but next time I get this thing out, I will take some photos of the component I already took off. And I will continue taking stuff off step by step and post corresponding pic here.

Thank y'all for your interest in this post, it makes me wanna keep going with fixing that thing!!! tbc....
