Last year, Hidetaka "Swery" Suehiro, the director behind Deadly Premonition and D4, launched a Fig campaign in order to fund a new game idea he had. Asking for 1.5 million dollars, the Fig campaign failed and received less than 50% of what was needed. Now, as of today, Swery has made another attempt to revive this project, this time using Kickstarter, and asking for a little less than $650,000. A video was also uploaded, showing new graphical changes that the team made in the interim between 2017 and 2018.

Named "The Good Life", the game is, as called by the development team "a cross between Animal Crossing and a detective mystery". You play as a journalist named Naomi, who moves to a small town in order to pay off her debt. From there, you encounter the inhabitants of the village during the daytime, who you can interact with, while uncovering and solving a mystery and making money to pay off your debts. Then, at night, everyone in the town turns into cats or dogs, and you can explore further in your new form.

The Good Life's Kickstarter will last until May 4, and at the current time of writing, has 500 backers pledging over $22,000. If the game is successfully funded, it'll launch in late 2019 for PC and PlayStation 4, digitally retailing for $29 and $39 respectively.

Sounds like a fun game. Animal crossing game with purpose and intrigue? That really does sound like fun.

I'm hesitant to be positive towards a Kickstarter, but the concept is really great.

It's been too many years since Ninty has released a proper animal crossing game - kind of need a game like this to fill that void in my soul

    Your mom's basement.
It'd be perfect for Switch...Which isn't on the list.

what is like the point of the game though, like all the ideas in the kickstarter seem so scatterbrained that even the person that wrote it had to end every idea with a question mark.

Swery65 is the Tommy Wiseau of the video game industry, I sincerely hope that he gets the funding, his games are delightfully terrible.

    America's heart, she's a beaut.
Someone is dead in town and the only thing I can think about right now is if I want to be a cat or dog. Sold. Also, dog.

I thought the low poly thing was going to be its thing. I mean, it is still stylized, but still.

I was pretty hesitant to back this last time but after recently experiencing D4's charms only to be burned by a cliffhanger I caved. I would definitely like to see more Swery at some point in the future.

Just thought I let everyone know that the game got funded (it got the $100,000 it needed in just the last couple days). There's still about 38 hours left if you still want to get a backers reward.

Edit: I should point out that these guys gave a shoutout to them, and deserve a good bit of thanks too. (The game they're making is looking great too ima) https://www.kickstarter.com/project...er-taming-game-with-true-crossb/posts/2167062
