Hey guys, I was wondering if there is a way to put a larger 2.5" drive that can be usable by the 360 into the original 20GB enclosure. I read about it and it seems that if you put a larger one in there it just reads as 20GB...

However, there is now a 120GB drive... does that make things better...? I mean, does that open any new light on the subject or is it actually already possible?

Thanks a lot for your help! [IMG]

sorry, wish i knew more about the subject. but if i recall correctly, it is possible. if i had the link, i would post it. but if the guy can turn the 360 into a laptop with a bigger hdd, i'm sure you could upgrade the hdd.

Aside from buying Microsoft's overpriced 20GB and now 120GB harddrive, there was one method of using an 80GB laptop harddrive as a substitute. It is a very complicated process to do and requires a special model drive in order for it to work.

You can use a 120gb WD drive. You will need to mess with it in the PC and get hold of the "Sector" or something that allows the drive to be used. Its only certain WD drives you can use and you need to download the software to do it. It works out a lot cheaper than buying one from microsoft.

I'm up for the challenge if I can get ahold of a walkthrough and the exact model.

My good friends are dying with their puny 20GB.

I thought you cant do this because every harddisk is digitally signed by MS.

Yeah you can't unless you have an original 20GB hard drive, to copy the key over to the new hard drive

every hdd key is the same, thats why you can use different harddrives on your 360.

you need to get ahold of the 120gb wd hdd drive and copy the 360 120gb hdd sector onto it, this can be found somewhere on the net.

i think xbox-scene will have a tutorial on how to do it. but i think its pretty much pointless until you can actually put full games on the harddrive.

Well my friends download a lot of demos and HD content, etc.

Therefore, to them, it is not useless.

Have a quick look in the hd section on the xbox scene forums, There is a guide on how to do it and it also tells what drive you need to get hold of [IMG]
