To the people who are wondering where to put key.bin on Vista, just put it in the same folder as Injectuwad.
Rename it to common-key.bin.

@cman1783

The advice let the program come to an end, but I´m still getting the same FU results.

If leave the common-key a file, the resulting wad(s)(I get 2) is/are 5KB.

If I change the common-key to .bin, the resulting wad(s) is/are slightly larger than the original wad. 46,546KB vs. 46,728KB

I´m going to go check the compatibility list now and see if I get similar results with known working combinations.

Okay, tried inserting Quest 64 into Pokemon Snap. The original Snap .wad was 29,673KB

The output .wad 29,790KB. Again, slightly larger. And after trying to install (just for shits and grins), again the -4100 error.

Will give something with SNES titles a try.

This is just too wierd. Why in the world would the output be larger??

On my desktop, i get a slightly larger wad that gives me the -4100 error. But, if i do it on my laptop, i get a wad of the same size and no error, but i still get a black screen. (secret of mana ---> DKC2)

Gave it a test on a brand new xp install I just so happen to have on the laptop. Not a change, not that I entirely expected one of course but figured a change of comp couldn't hurt at least. Still Error -1022 when Adding content #0. Gonna leave this alone for a good bit now as I've exausted every idea I could think of on my end.

tried inserting Aladdin into DK2, but the results were even worse!!

However I named the common-key, the resulting wads were all only 5KB.

Does it maybe have something to do with other progs installed? net frame etc.? I just don´t know!

This is strange. The last few days I tried over and over to create my own Super Mario Kart by injecting it into the DKC 2 wad, and I failed each and every time: I always ended up with a wad file of 6KB (and I know a lot of you have this same kind of problem). I was sure I used the right tools with the correct versions, and that I had installed every file in the proper map. I even got a complete filled map from someone else who did have success, and it was 100% the same as my map!!!

Then I just quit doing it and went frustrated from my computerroom to the living room. However, after an hour or so I decided to give it another go, and I took the laptop (with XP installed) which is in the living room. I copied the map with all the files via my network from my PC on to the laptop and give it a go. And surprise, surprise, at the very first attempt on my laptop I got a wad file with the proper size!!!!

So, bottom line, I suppose the problem for a lot of us is (or was) in the way Windows XP is installed or so. Unfortunately I am no windows expert, so I really don't know why my attempts on my PC fail, but succeed on my laptop.

Perhaps someone else has an answer.

Unfortunately I can't test my newly made WAD file at the moment, because my daughter is playing some game of Bowling on the Wii, and I don't dare to disturb her. But I will report whether my WAD file runs properly later.

Could someone be kind enough to write a tutorial on how to do this... Its all scattered throughout the entire thread. Mainly on how to inject .dol into .wad homebrew channels.

Creffca: I have gotten it to work with super smash brothers and Sin and punishment, but if I try to inject Mario Party in the paper mario wad, it says that my file is too large... But if I look in my roms I see paper mario is larger then Mario Party. Do you know what the problem is? I could inject mario party succesfully in the sin and pun... wad, but then the game runs much too fast...

Heh my newest theory on the 4kb wad problem is that it's related to your processor manufacturer

Many laptops are intel chips, and the guy said when he moved to his laptop, it worked fine...

my desktop is AMD and it fails....

anyone else have some input?

The Wad file works as it should. By the way, it isn't super Mario Kart, but Super Mario Allstars.

And You DO NOT NEED a .wii map with common-key in C:\documents and settings\. Just one common-key.bin in the map where you extracted injectuwad v1.1 will do.
