I get your point, the DSTWO Plus is without a doubt the best DS flashcard. But paying $40 more than you would on a regular flashcard just to play Starfox is rather weird... Regarding DSTWO Plus's emulation, how do we even know it emulates the GW card? For all we know they took a GW card and slapped their tech on it and decided to call it "emulation"
Mostly because it acts like a DS card as well. You can run DS and 3DS games from the same SD card. The GW can't do that. It's really only a handful of games that benefit from the jump in power from the 2 versions of SuperCard DSTwo, but the R4 was horrible for most SNES games IIRC.

Golden sun is another one. No flash card has been able to run it until now ( you could get to a certain point in the first dungeon, then it would freeze.

As far as sky3ds... If it is possible to update the firmware, they haven't done it yet.

And I'll probably get my DStwo+ in the mail today, but I am 99.99% sure it will work on a DS and DSI. Just not the GW emulation (obviously).
But since it only emulates a GW card, don't expect faster updates than GW. It does use GW's launcher, after all...

A new gateway update has just been released.

Anyone with a DSTWO+ willing to try it?

i have 2 3ds xl with sysnand 4.5 but 1 gateway
i want to buy another gateway or a DStwo+ for the other console
which card should i buy (is the gateway emulation on the DStwo+ good?)
Youre better off with rxtools on both systems. Don't waste money with flash cards. they're a rip off and cfw is free.

I think it says on their website specifically to not do that, but do you know if

Wonder if theyre planning on nuking consoles again? The Supercard website says specifically not to use any update until they say go.

GATEWAY ULTRA v3.5 PUBLIC BETA
=============================

Today we are very proud to present a new firmware update: GATEWAY ULTRA 3.5!

Summary:
* Cheat code support
* Updated emunand support for 10.3 for Old 3DS

We've heard your prayers and here it is! Cheat code support for GATEWAY 3DS!

First things first. Our current cheat library is very small and should be
considered more as a proof of concept than anything else. We need you,
cheat hackers and cheaters around the globe to hack us some cool codes.

How, you ask us? That is a question we will soon answer, STAY TUNED. :-)

And as always, support the innovators not the imitators and ENJOY!

PS: We have noticed some serious and dangerous flaws in an unofficial Gateway emulation plugin,
and we strongly urge to cease using this plugin and only use GENUINE Gateway! You have been warned!

HOW TO USE CHEATS
=================

1. Simply copy the folder "cheats" into the root of your microSD card that will go into the Gateway RED card.
Each file inside the cheats folder will be of the format <TitleID>.txt where TitleID is the title id of the game.

2. Boot into Gateway mode, and press SELECT to make the Gateway game selection menu appear.

3. Select your game and then press Y to enter cheat mode.

4. Enable the cheats you want and then press START to load the game.

CHEAT CODE FORMAT
=================

The GATEWAY 3DS cheatcode format is based on the old ActionReplay DS
code format, the one you all know and love! We added some code types
for your convenience as well!

The following code types are supported:

NOTE: default value of offset and data registers is zero.

Memory Writes:
0XXXXXXX YYYYYYYY - 32bit write to [XXXXXXX + offset]
1XXXXXXX 0000YYYY - 16bit write to [XXXXXXX + offset]
2XXXXXXX 000000YY - 8bit write to [XXXXXXX + offset]

Conditional 32bit codes:
3XXXXXXX YYYYYYYY - Greater Than (YYYYYYYY > [XXXXXXX + offset])
4XXXXXXX YYYYYYYY - Less Than (YYYYYYYY < [XXXXXXX + offset])
5XXXXXXX YYYYYYYY - Equal To (YYYYYYYY == [XXXXXXX + offset])
6XXXXXXX YYYYYYYY - Not Equal To (YYYYYYYY != [XXXXXXX + offset])

Conditional 16bit deref + write codes:
7XXXXXXX ZZZZYYYY - Greater Than
8XXXXXXX ZZZZYYYY - Less Than
9XXXXXXX ZZZZYYYY - Equal To
AXXXXXXX ZZZZYYYY - Not Equal To

Offset Codes:
BXXXXXXX 00000000 - offset = *(xxx)
D3000000 XXXXXXXX - set offset to immediate value
DC000000 XXXXXXXX - Adds an value to the current offset

Loop Code:
C0000000 YYYYYYYY - Sets the repeat value to 'YYYYYYYY'
D1000000 00000000 - Loop execute
D0000000 00000000 - Terminator code

Data Register Codes:
D4000000 XXXXXXXX - Adds XXXXXXXX to the data register
D5000000 XXXXXXXX - Sets the data register to XXXXXXXX
D6000000 XXXXXXXX - (32bit) [XXXXXXXX+offset] = data ; offset += 4
D7000000 XXXXXXXX - (16bit) [XXXXXXXX+offset] = data & 0xffff ; offset += 2
D8000000 XXXXXXXX - (8bit) [XXXXXXXX+offset] = data & 0xff ; offset++
D9000000 XXXXXXXX - (32bit) sets data to [XXXXXXXX+offset]
DA000000 XXXXXXXX - (16bit) sets data to [XXXXXXXX+offset] & 0xffff
DB000000 XXXXXXXX - (8bit) sets data to [XXXXXXXX+offset] & 0xff

Special Codes:
DD000000 XXXXXXXX - if KEYPAD has value XXXXXXXX execute next block

You need a bit better than a $10 R4 clone to match a SCDS2, let alone the SCDS2+ (which has a more powerful CPU and more RAM than the standard SCDS2). Most R4 clones do not have a built in CPU that makes emulation run much better. You'll have a hard time running Starfox on any DS cart other than the SCDS2+. Even the standard SCDS2 cannot run Starfox very well.
tbh i see the whole DSTwo+ as a last ditch attempt to remain relevant, i called it months back as homebrew started taking off that the DStwo was loosing its last unique selling point (emulators), you can get better emulator performance from native 3DS homebrew in full screen i would love to see their built in cpu pull of PS1 emulation, snes emulation and GBA emulation works pretty well on retroarch builds too, it won't be too long before the DStwo emulators are more of a novelty for 3DS users, for anyone on a homebrew capable 3DS (which is currently every 3DS out there) they could get all the same stuff from a $5 R4 card and not have to worry about gateway dropping bombs on them

as good as they were back in the day,the fact the resorted to being a clone company to me shows they aren't what they once were and have no desire to innovate and would settle for grabbing whatever cash they can before they go

Nobody seems to have an issue with the million different R4 clones, including the one provided by Gateway themselves.

i think the difference is the fact that supercard chose to clone a company known to brick peoples consoles who use clones.....thus putting their own customers at risk just to score a quick buck rather than do their own work

Good point. Hopefully they actually do something beyond hardware upgrades (which may only be available in DS mode). Wouldn't it be great if they can use it tandem with the N3DS to achieve PSX or Dreamcast (one can hope). IDK maybe it's a way to fund future R&D. On the flip side it might be as you say a cash grab. I just have high hopes for the SC team and won't write them off quite as easily.

I think probably it is the end of the flashcarts. Looks like the 3ds is about blown wide open and the more exploits and entries the more developers are gonna find out about the hardware. It's probably a good thing that the ecosystem with 3ds is enormous and there will always be more younger and less savvy users that are gonna keep buying software cuz i bet if this wasn't such an enormous and established ecosystem (ds, dsi, 3ds, and n3ds) we could be looking at another PSP situation.

Now this would be ideal. A true CFW would be idea.

What I meant was that the system could have been abandoned like PSP if it weren't so huge and so late in the DS game. But I also think that a real cfw is gonna be the ultimate end point here as well. Not sure when that could be a long time coming but there's a fuck load of development on the 3ds home brew scene right now and with this sort of work going on I imagine it will be sooner rather than later.

as long as sc team do not make their own launcher, i'll value them lower than gw team. and my valuation towards gw team isn't really good.
gw with their brick code is a d* with vd, and sc team is just a pimp that you pay just to get the same d* into your a*

The SuperCard team is way more reliable than the GW team IMO. This is their 3rd generation of flash card. They have a card for the GBA, the DS and now the 3DS. The SCDS2 has regular updates and come out in a timely fashion once announced. The GW's soon™ has all but become a joke. I would call that far from regular. I doubt the Gateway team will cause intentional brick again, considering the backlash they had last time. If they did it again, I personally would consider it to be intentional and malicious.

It has the same icon (Alex Rider IIRC) and I assume it will work on a DS. It also has a better onboard CPU and more ram than the original, making it a better choice.
i adopted both cards pretty early on in their life span
and i can tell you that GW's "soon" was a hell of a lot faster than SCDSTWO delivery time for their proprietary SNES emulator plugin or even worse their media player plugin, which turned out to not even be worth the long wait, GW has far over delivered on their promises and much faster that the SC team ever did, they both provide prompt updates to their cards with the exception of N3ds emunand
which they may already have and be withholding till it is really needed

Sky3ds is already obsolete. Newer games with the new anti-piracy flag will not work on them.

It will work on anything GW works on (until GW makes an update that blocks it). Nothing more or less. There is NOTHING that will do above 9.5 emunand on an N3ds.
i though that all games were now playabe with sky + HANS ?
but i have not not really been paying attention to either project so i may be wrong

plus you cant really say goodbye to GW's "soon" while supercard are just relying on GW for FW updates....except you then have to wait even longer if GW decide to throw a spanner in the works

nope someone made a thread saying you could along with a faked video just to troll sky3DS users (unless i missed some new development)
