Hacking supercard DS2 old update on new 7.1 3DS

i found out i have another DS2 card
but it was old update, maybe 1.19 i think
and my 3DS is in update 7.1 ( not the last one )
can i update it ? or i need un updated 3DS or DS ?

You can update it but it would be better to use an old DS.
