I'm hadn't heard anything about this so I was curious if anyone ever attempted a fix. For those unfamiliar, the Akuma virus is the nickname (as I saw it called in a magazine article I read after I got this game) for a serious bug in the game that happens 100% of the time in the US version (and the European version as well I believe) which causes the game to lock up on a screen with Akuma's silhouette if you achieve the requirements to fight Akuma as the final boss (no continues). Needless to say it was a very frustrating bug.
