Next month Nintendo will take a step backwards with the Super Smash Brothers series. The first game in the series, Nintendo All Star Dairantou Smash Brothers as its known in Japan, will be available as a Virtual Console download in Japan for 1,200 Wii Points ($12).

Yes! Finally! hopefully I'll have a gamecube or virtual console controller by then. But I'd rather Melee or Brawl

I actually like the 64 version better than Brawl in terms of gameplay. I don't think I'd bother with this unless they have online features.. which I doubt they would. I'll just stick to Smash 64 online otherwise.

Too bad I already have it on the VC. I wonder if the controls will be better...

    1,200 points?

I bet they're using that price so you have to buy 2,000 points instead of 1,000.

    Awesome!
I still want SSB DS though (it would save the console), except if they're preparing SSB for their next (post-dsi) handheld?

Someday they'll wise up and make SSBDS. And it would work quite well. I imagine something similar looking to Mario Hoops, and it would place it somewhere between SSB64 and Melee graphically.

This will be great. I hated the N64 controllers, so it'd be nice to play SSB with the Gamecube controller.
